I mean, you could make your own portrait, make the hero far-ranged or close ranged, make his voice, etc. i guess we have to wait for SC2
How could you create your own hero? Just wondering if you are using the classic "Step on beacon" thingy
I will not vote untill I get more information on wtf your talking about.
what!?! Give us more info!!! I refuse to vote like O)FaRTy1billion...
I think he means for another version of Staredit. Like how Worldedit has a complete object editor where you can customize heros and all the other units.
We'll just have to wait for SC2. Or you could just go play War3.
if he does mean that, yea.
Yea... but in current SC someone could make a create your own hero RPG... maybe with like 20 different selections you make to create hero choosing attributes or something... or less... its a thought
. If they make more changes to staredit I want them to increase the max # of locations, strings and such exponentially!!
well...i think that you could be able to make your hero and you should be able too to created your own pic for your hero with a special toolkit not by importing the image so that they preserve their dark colors in image that would be cool
I've always wanted to give people the option of creating a hero so that they can customize their gameplay.
I ask them a question like: "Do you want your hero to be fast or tough?" If they choose fast, they get a low armor unit. If they choose tough, they get a slow high armor unit.
Then something like "Do you want a vicious attack or higher endurance?" If they choose attack, then their unit gets high attack, but low HP. If they choose higher endurance, then their attack is low but they have a lot more HP.
So in all you have like 4 hero's right there. Though you could take it a step or more further and ask for abilities, etc.
One thing that I want out of a new Starcraft is object editing. But I don't want to lose the highly-restrictive 2d terrain. Starcraft wouldn't be the same with Warcraft III's 3d view and camera.
You could modify lots on hero units already.
Using the system of burrowed zerg units centered under a hero, you can make them go as slow as you want. Then using the burrowed zerg units underneath the hero, you add more to heal and subtract / kill them to be hurt. You could then make those stronger or weaker units to have stronger and weaker sheilds. You then modify the health and sheilds of the unit to corrispond to those things underneath.
Granted this would also take some crafty alliances as well, making the hero player an enemy to the computer, but the computer only enemy to the burrowed units, then making the hero not see the burrowed units.
If you did the same thing for enemies, you could have a way to upgrade weapons, by modifying the enemies stats. This would mean less massive battles, but it would work for 1v1 battles.
Wow, That would be so awesome to create your own hero... I would make mine with full defence and no atk
phatdiddy is the closest to what i mean
You could probably even make it where you can make a custom hero in Broodwar... If you want your portrait to be different you can probably send transmission from a unit with the portrait you want for like 999999999 seconds so it'll last whole game, and you can definitely customize health with a lot of life and heal to a percentage for their health, and you can make yourself slower using burrowed units like Ratent said, and you can upgrade attack and armor, and you can maybe make it so you can choose ur color with rescueable players if you have extra players left.
The main reason I stick with SC mapping, instead of moving over to WC3, is the fact that WC3 takes too much longer.
But the next reason is the limits.
I like StarCraft having limits. It makes it easier for me to be able to inflate my ego by thinking of ideas that other people haven't thought of, and/or thinking of more efficient methods of carrying them out and/or being one of the first people to think of a method.
This would be fun... Not really anything very 'new' but interesting. I dont know why how we could make our own voices... unless we had a list to choose from. I think we should either be able to choose from a list of portraits or draw/paste your own. Possibly design what it looks like on the screen when u move it etc?
Would the hero editor program from Freedom Force or City of heroes be a good program for this hero editing you guys are talking about?
Cept you take away the presteige point/cost, 3d models (replace for 2d), and some other stuff to make it simple.
I wish you could modify
the hero range., the cooldown.
and a unit creator. we have too little units.
Then how did they make Raszagal, da Corsair; Aldaris, the High Templar with no storm, hallucination, or spells; The two Battlecruiser guys... u get da point... but one question: HOW? There should be a program where u can make those guys, or were they already made, but they just were hidden or something....?
i think they're just hidden units
it would be great cause then you can create specialized units for maps but then... wouldn't starcraft get flooded with more heroes than normal units lol?

Blizzard made them specifically for certain events in Broodwar, they added them as hidden.
I thought they just made a clone of Tassadar, replace the unit pic with the other pic, and take out effects. That's y the "xtra" unit's counterparts have to have the same Attack as it... maybe...
Its actually quite simple where the BCs, aldaris, and Alexi Stukov came from, they are all the unit that the trigger "Display unit portrait" in the briefing is for, even blizzard's mapmakers used staredit, or something like it, so they simply added several "dummy" units that had no abilities etc but were referencable with the trigger to show portraits.
