Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Is it hard?

Isn't it so hard to make a map with diagonal terrain? I think so! I like the regular diagonal pieces because they raise off the ground, unlike Starforge when every thing is flat! wink.gif

It can be done in StarForge, if you spend time and thought. Look at the Terrain Hall of Fame to see some incredible pieces done in StarForge (Or SCMDraft) that aren't 'flat'.

It can also be done on SCMDraft...You just need more time ermm.gif.

I think it depends what kind of map your making. If it is a bound, I prefer flat terrain. In RPG's, I like diagonal.

It depends on how much time you put into it and how long you've been blending for.

Certain things are harder to do than others as well, so I'd say your question is too vague to cover the topic.

well i like my rpgs to be nice a diagnal (which means the person put alot of time in this map so it is good) and well mostly everthing else to be flat just like Oo.skillz.oO

Once you learn how the pallet is organized, its easy. Except with SCMDraft2, too damn slow!!!

That's just you. SCMDraft 2 runs smoothly on even the slowest computers. There must be something wrong with your computer or you must not have the updated version(s) of SCMD2 for it to run as slow as you emphasize it does.

Every computer I have been on (slow/fast) it stops when you move the main screen around to load thoes tiles there. and in the pallet it loads one tile at a time, like 10 tiles/second then it reloads a second time. so this gets annoying and time consuming. Cant me my comp if its does on every comp ive ever had it on (more than 3)

It can be you or it can be all those computers aswell. SI tests it with really old/outdated computers and it runs fine for him. And ... I don't know ... he just sounds more like he knows what he's talking about. Considering he programmed the thing.

It can be a hard job to do, But in the end, It will look great, But, It's not really that hard once you do it for a long time like me smile.gif

Its only slow because it draws/loads them one tile at a time, then reloads them; starforge there already there so it doesnt load one at a time.

Ok I am in SCMD2, and I am in the Tileset Index, it loads each tile one at a time. I didn't say it was "slow" just becomes very time consuming. Whenever you click the scrollbar or the main window (or another window) and then click back, it loads again.

So just for like 2 tiles or using similar tiles its fine, just if your doing large terrain pieces its annoying (SF still faster!)
