Staredit Network -> StarForge -> problem

I wanted to do a little extended unit research, so I decided to go into the unit list and add a sub-section for extended units. Basically at the end of Unused, I added a new section and a bunch of entries.

CODE
187: Khaydarin Crystal Formation
##

#Extended
9000: Unit 9000
9001: Unit 9001
...
10219: Unit 10219
##

###

Well I guess that was too much, because opening starforge and clicking to extend the dropdown caused a, I believe, division by 0 error. So I went back and set it down to just 9999. It worked fine after that, except when I went to place the units. That gave me the same crash error.

But here's the real problem, when I delete that entire section and revert the .lst file how it was before I started editing it, I still crash. Whenever I open the program Extended is not listed (as it shouldn't be because I removed it) but if I move my mouse cursor into the map area when I have a map open, it's the same division by zero crash error.

So I replaced the .lst file, thinking I might have done something wrong in reverting it, with one found in the .cab in the installer. Still crashes.

So I decide I will completely uninstall and reinstall Starforge. I got to add/remove programs, uninstall it. Then install it again from the installer. Still crashes.

I have no idea what else I can possibly do to get it to stop crashing. Have you found this problem and have a fix for it? Because it's seriously getting annoying. I can't work at all with extended units.

AHA!

At first I could not find registry entries to check to see if something went wrong there, but I extended my search. I found that the grid entries somehow became set to 0. Which explains the not divisable by 0 error. I set them to 1/1, opened the program and a map. And went to view grid. As I suspected the grid was now 1x1. No errors. I set it back to 16x16 (the way I like my grid) and now it all works fine.

The only problem for you, Heimdal, is to find out how the grid became set to 0/0 now. I've provided you with all the information I really can. Talk to me if you need more.

Nice job, chu. I'll bet this is the solution to some of the other division by 0 errors. I'll try and figure out how it could have happened. Do you know if you had the "save last" option checked for the grid settings?

Yes, I have save last enabled. I like my grid to stay at 16/16. smile.gif
