Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Turn Based Diplo

I have a idea for a tbc diplo like for example at the beginning you of coarse choose your country and what not. Then to decide turns marines will appear in seperate arenas (incase of draw rines will be replaced) and who ever wins the 6 rine arena will go first this will continue until all turns are chosen.

You will then begin by choosing what you wish to do Attack, Move, Build units, Build buildings etc. and i got a neat idea from a friend too have to send birds to talk to your enemies or allies THANKS NEIJI!

This will provide a long game that people would be able to play with actual strategy in many of the diplos i play (NOt many) theres a little strategy but not enough with this tbc based war you will only have so long too do something and you must choose wisely

The way to get minirals is to search for mines through out the world which would require you too ---Build scv---then move him and note-30 seconds to move thats why its wise not to have slow units

Also when they reach a city they have the choice of Battling that player or npc or running away but if they dont reach the chosen destination when they run they will either die are get caught

This game would go very slow and would get a little annoying but i truly believe that this is possible and quite easy to make for example

Cities-Have a powerup (like crystal) represent cities have switches turn on n off so they can enter/exit when its there turn and so they dont build nothing take money just have ally control buildings. This would be very complicated to make but if you knew what you were doing it would be easily done it would just take a complex brain to make it to perfection.

If i get good reponses from this i may just make it i think this would be a good long game that you and your freinds could play oh and please let me here the good and the BAD of what you think of this dont be afraid to speak your mind biggrin.gif

*Points to Tux's Starcraft Mapping Glossary*

It's short for "diplomacy-type game". A strategic/tactical civilisation-expansion kind of game.

Sorrow:
I think your map would be incredibly slow and frustrating to play - when it's your turn, 30 seconds is nowhere near enough time to make a decision; and when it's not your turn, waiting for others is really boring.

But your ideas about how battles and cities should work seem interesting and original to me. You could make a really good map if you are committed and skilled enough.

...But you could make a really boring map if you didn't know what you were doing.

right reread the post the 30 second thing met if you chose to move your units you would have 30 seconds to move them until they were to stop get it?

Why would you make it turn based?
Will turn base make you're map better?

It wouldnt. I've tried to make a turn-bases Civilization game, it didnt work out. Let me see:

1. It would take forever. Imagine 6 players playing. 30 secons each is around 3 minutes per turn. Thats 20 rounds an hour. 20 round an hour will get 20000 if you get 1000 minerals per turn.

2. You couldnt do much because you'd have to wait, whats the point? Just make it real-time, and it'll be the same, except 3 times faster...

Those are only some reasons.

I think it would still be fun, and I'd play it a few times if it was made biggrin.gif . Some people have made real-timeish diplos... the Timeline series where the year determines which techs you can and can't upgrade.
