If any of you read the Chinese newspaper, you will see that China and Japan are a lil crazy. You may not hear it from the radio, but the Chinese government is getting really pissed against the Japenese governement cuz of several things. Wot are your thoughts on this?

I don't know wot my thoughts are. I do know what my thoughts are however. They're mad at each other, but they won't go to war over some petty differences and disagreements.

War? Nah, it won't come down to something THAT drastic. The Japanese might be lying through their teeth on the subject of the Rape of Nanjing, but war? The Chinese government officially won't do anything, but they won't prevent anything, if you get my drift. Of course, the Japanese probably won't push too far. Nobody want to wake the sleeping giant.

Err in an attempt(most likely a failed one...) to clear some things up...Although I do not know how it all started, lately Shanghai(capital of China) has been throwing riots against Japan every weekend. China claims they are trying there best to stop these riots but Japan is suspicious. I mean come on, if France started having riots against us we wouldn't be happy either. Well that is what is going on now. President of Japan and Prime Minister of China(or other way around... pinch.gif) are meeting in Indonesia. Actually I think it was yesterday. I have been doing weekly reports on this topic...for your information I'm not doing too well biggrin.gif.

I concur. This whole incident won't devolve as far as outright armed conflict. The Chinese have every right to be mad at the Japanese for what they did before and during World War II, but they are not going to go to war over it. And of course, Japan cannot wage war on the Chinese unless it's in self-defense, making the chance of war between the two nations practically zero.

But a lot of the people in Commie china, hate the government. (I may be wrong on that, Using the idea that a lot of people don't like communism now a days) Where as here in America, we don't hate the goverment. We don't really love it as it well, but we don't really HATE it. Like, revolution time. (Personally, I sense a chinese revolution within this century)

First the capital of China is not Shanghai, its Beijing.

A war is not going to start. Lots of people learnt their lesson with all the previouse wars. Stupid thing to do.

Heh. I've been studying Japan for three years independently, and the general jist of all this is that they have been relatively peaceful since Hirojima.

And until you can cite exactly what they have against each other...it would be rather foolish to attack them. Japan is a major player in quite a few trades. Heh...especially since China and Japan share a lot of trade partners. A war could really suck.

I don't think there will be a war.

All China has against Japan is the Rape of Nanjing, the chemical and biological experiments run by Unit 731 in Manchuria, and the military brothels run by the Japanese army during World War II (Chinese women made up a large fraction of those conscripted into the brothels).

Well to put it simply, the conflict stems from the Japanese government's attempt to deny the Rape of Nanjing or lie about what happened in it (aka it wasn't a massacre, women weren't raped in masses, pregnant women didn't have their fetus cut out, and tossed into the air for bayonet practice, etc). now, the escalation in hostilities comes from the fact that the Japanese government has approved the use of some textbooks spouting such lies for use in schools. Hence, pissed off people.

As an analogy, it's kinda like Germany approving a textbook that said the Holocaust never happened. Pretty much the same thing here.

Hmm, how do you know? From what I hear from relatives in China and Hong Kong, they just don't care. Actuallly, they don't want change, as it would destabilize the economy. Then again, it's from the perspective of relatives, so it probably is a bit biased. In my opinion, there will be no revolution, no uprising or anything like that. It would probably just be a gradual change to a more capitalistic government.

umm about the textbook thing... it doesnt say that Japanese attacked China in WW2. it also doesnt say that Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor..... Umm... so smart kids (I mean like the smart-mouths like me) will think that America attacked Japanese for no good reason. so then.... they will kamakazi....

China is also very mad that America gave an island that was part of Taiwan to Japan instead of to China.

If war does happen, and no countries go into war, China may suffer a lot of damage. On the coast there is Japanese AND Taiwan. Once Japan attacks China, Taiwan will see this as an opertunity to attack China and gain their freedom. (Taiwan wants to be another country) so then China would be in a quite big problem....
