:- Storyline -:

Long ago there was a humble town called Daila, flourishing with fertile lands, safe from the creatures bestowed upon the continent of Karei. The town was beautiful, and was easily habitable with all of it's basic needs, and even some wanted luxuries. In this town lived a growing villager of 19 years named Soran. His whole life was a series of lies, lurking in the shadows and stealing from others to survive. He was learning bits of Alchemy from his one and only friend in Daila, Oden.

One day that appeared to be the same as every other which passed by, became a nightmare to all of Daila. When trying out a newly learned alchemic spell, Soran made a mistake and it backfired. A blast powerful enough to turn all of Karei into living Hell was unleashed from Soran's body, and it flew violently through the air. The beam struck the Karei Stone, blowing it into 3 pieces and sending them flying high into the night sky. In the center of Daila, the little village which contained the most powerful crystal in the world, sprouted a quark de-materialization, and the lands of Karei were no longer protected by the powerful stone. Soon enough, a force of creatures known as The Infection took over the lands and destroyed most of the continent. Only 3 towns stood strong and undamaged; Daila being one of them.

Soran made it his duty to find the Karei Stone and restore it in it's proper location, killing off The Infection forever from the lands. He and Oden, his master, decided to set out on a treaturous journey to find the supernatural Karei Stone.

This is more of a guide/reference for me than anything else. Opinions/comments/requests are appreciated and always welcome.
Will add more as I remember them, and answer any questions you might have.

I think the story sounds alot like my old map I was working on...
Anyway it sounds really good but mabe you could come up with a name
better than "The Infection" because it seems kind of lame compared to the other
names you added into this map.

As for the TBC or RTC it depends what kind of gameplay you want. If you want a slow paced gameplay with good special effects chose TBC if you want a really fast paced gameplay with somewhat good effects and such chose RTC

It would be apreciated if you could add some screenshots thx

happy.gif thanks. I'll think of a cooler name for The Infection.

And I know the pros/cons of TBC and RTC, but I wanted a more strategic/special effect kind of battle system for inportant battles, but minor creatures that are always just running around the lands I want to be RTC (It would be too slow to have TBC for every enemy you find).

I'll add screenshots once I add more terrain; and triggers.

On a side note: Should I work on the map or does it seem like a good enough map for a trailer first? smile.gif

work on the map two about 20% then make a trailer or DEMO...
This is because if you have 20% done you know what your rpg is kinda like so far
and making a trailer close to the game terrain and such helps ALOT

happy.gif yeah. I wanna make a trailer similar to the one on A&O Saga by Tux, that ... can't even be described in words, other than awesome. I think I'll do most of the terrain, then some basic triggers/systems, and start a trailer (or demo).

Now that you've changed the layout, and the name of the map I'm sure regulars will start paying more attention to this map. I re-read your story layout at it looks very good. Only thing is it is very similar to Dark2004's map which of course can be a small issue, with people talking of what map will come out better and comparing. But I do like your basic storylayout and i am waiting for a demo(screenshots are for people who judge terrain) before i say too much.

Goodluck and get a good portion of the map done!

smile.gif thanks. I've decided to take a little break from map-making fora bit (Really busy life right now) so I guess this will have a minor delay. I'll probably start working on it again sometime this weekend.

Edit: Thanks for all the positive input so far.

Sounds like a good well thought out RPG, I hope you succeed in finishing it cool1.gif . I think its a good idea to combine RTS and turn based combat as some of the Turn based combat rpg's can get a little slow having to fight battles against every single small enemy encountered.

Sounds pretty neat, how come you have 256x210?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by slayer766 on 2005-04-28 at 16:45:45
Sounds really cool lethal, you should add the level up system in there, I think. You should use the new Shop thing that chuiu made. Thats a pretty cool idea. Hey lethal if you ever need a Beta tester I could test it with ya. Good luck on your map man.

TBC + RTC is still hard to figure out (If it's even possible) to use together, unless I plan on making the player slow (Units burrowed under him).

And I used 256x210 because I wanted a rectangular map, but I don't like tall/skinny, I like short/fat. tongue.gif

All right, I'll PM you if I need someone Slayer.

Also, instead of 'The Infection,' how does Kuroteki sound (Or The Kuroteki Clan)? cool1.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheOddAngel on 2005-04-28 at 16:57:27
Kuroteki sounds good but with the clan is jsut sounds like a
tribe or somehting not an infection...
Mabe in the map you can call them the Kuroteki which means Infection in the language that the elders can speak and whatnot...

Hmm, that sounds interesting Odd. Kind of like the UN, a group of elders that represent their town, and help you along your journey.

how do you plan on healing the 2hp and 10 hp? sounds nice too bad you cant continue for a while
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LethaL on 2005-04-29 at 16:09:45
A virtual HP for RTC and TBC:

Have your unit with 20 health (or 40 works too, for this). Under your unit you place 20 burrowed Zerglings. Now instead of attacking you, the unit attacks the zerglings (But it still looks like it's attacking you because the Zerglings are right under you). Now you have detecting triggers: If you have 20 Zerglings, set health to 100%. If you have 15 Zerglings, set health to 75%, etc.

For healing 2 HP (20 health total, 20 burrowed units total) you would just burrow 2 more zerglings under your player. For healing 10 HP, you'd add 10 more Lings (Making sure that the maximum is still 20).
If you have 40 HP total you add 1 Zergling for 2 HP and 5 Zerglings for 10 HP.

Seems like a flawless system, but the only bad part is the slow unit.
