People have a tendency to thank God for their fortunes. You win an award, thank God. The surgery was a success, thank God! You got that promotion, thank you God! It seems people have a strange wish to not be responsible, even for good. I guess it places less stress on you, but really, when did Satan put the gun in your hand? This wasn't designed with intent to offend... so go blame Satan if you are.

Well, I never did like puritans. And I'm glad they died out. (They thought a lot like that)

He does have a good point though. It seems that phrase was rooted into english because the whole damn world was religious way back when.

People maybe thank God because we blame other people for misfortunes so be blame God (in a way I guess) for good ones.

Not that it makes sense but neither does the book Bush for Dummies .

Kinda redundant eh?

Yes, he has some point but the fact is he is taking nowhere, and the subtitle is read Noobs! Which is kind of a negative tone. I'm still waiting to see the actual purpose of the thread rather then once again having someone starting an arguement about god because they don't like the concept of god(yes that is what you're doing).

And indecisive, you really do set yourself up alot.....

Your statement is illogical theo, and anyone who thinks like this is probably illogical too, because we have a little something called free will.

If people really do think like that Theo, then I pity them. sad.gif

Now, one thing I need to point out is that when peculiar things happen to me, I point to God. If life goes good with me, I usually don't even think about praising God for it. Usually, I point to God when I contradict myself in 3 minutes. And if you've seen my writings, I DON'T contradict myself. smile.gif Heck, I'm not even contradicting myself right now!

In other words, I sometimes thank God for my fortunes. But more often than not, I thank God for my misfortunes than anything else. But just because I thank God, doesn't mean I believe that our actions won't reap our own consequences.

I need a better outlet. I have a tendency to generalize unfairly. I should've give this topic a better title, and the "read N0rbs" was an unserious, joking untone. I have a dislike for hyper-serious discussion, so I generally stray from anything entirely serious. But, I never said anyone HAD to, or that everyone did, I fail to see where I was illogical. I was simply being scathing and arrogant. I don't dislike the concept of God, I dislike the concept of taking away responsibility from yourself with a religion.
