Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Does God exist?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Loser_Musician on 2005-05-01 at 22:22:24
I see many topics straying off their topic due to quite possibly the ultimate topic, which of course is...

DOES GOD EXIST?

I will start it all off by simply saying...

no.

You know this topic isn't going to go anywhere. The ignorant shall remain ignorant.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by scwizard on 2005-05-01 at 22:37:07
Interesting... I would think that a topic like this already exists, so either it was locked due to people who refuse to belive they could be wrong flaming other people who refuse to belive they could be wrong. But more likely, no one has started a topic as blatent as this one yet...
My 2ยข may come soon. That is if people on this thread acutally show any scrap of inteligence and sanity.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2005-05-01 at 22:38:36
I can make this topic slightly more intelligent!

Why do you believe in God or why don't you believe in God?

If this doesn't generate spam, I will actually say something. tongue.gif

Ya, many religious people are stubborn.
Of course, that's why extreme stubborness was never a sin.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-05-01 at 22:43:10
But my comment also states thevice versa, that the opposite are also stubborn. Admittedly, I am stubborn, rude, and Atheist. Anyways, let the flame wars commence!

Ya, I see your point. I am wrong. Woah, so UNstubborn.
(Seems like I was sarcastic. I was seriously wrong. Had to put this part in, just noticed)

There shall be lots of flaming, and i'll make sure there will be little fire extinguishers.

Why should you?

I believe in some sort of creator, but not a god in the Christian sense.

k.

I believe in a creator because the Big Bang theory is fatally flawed. I dont believe in a god in the Christian sense because 'he' shows all the signs of having been made up by humans.

Agnostic?

However i somewhat believe the same thing, as there so many arguements to whether there is, or is not a god. Why endlessly debate about it(since all sides are ignorant). I believe something made everything happen, and the best Human Theories provided are God(allah, Buddha, Jesus, Jehovah, Ywehah, watevr u want to call him/her/it.) and the big bang theory. Some people want to blatently believe there is god, because they have been informed of the bible. Others want to ignore the bible, reject it and say there is no chance some dude made all this stuff, when the bible claims all these other things that don't make sense. Then there's the agnostic which will study both sides, and just say to him/herself, "Screw it, either they prove an atom exploded and created everything, or Armageddon comes first". Then I'll believe something.

But yeah, i would say I believe the bible, but I also believe scientific facts. So just label me Agnostic.

We understand too little about the universe to be sure of anything, so as our favorite cap'n said, I believe in a creator, but not necessarily the Christian one.

The sterotype is that people of your political affiliation belive in god (to cap the g or to not cap the g, that is the question).

As said below (or is it above) I think that means you agnostic.

Could you please tell us how the big bang theory is fatally flawed, and how the theory you support is not? It would definatly make for some interesting discussion.

the big bang theory is flawed mainly because it says that before the universe, there was something, which means that there was a universe. it was just very small. also this obviously couldnt be true.

THat is nice... but I have a question... do u want to kno if God exists?? Sure I may believe that God created us, but do you want to kno?? Just curious.
Well I believe because of some deep things that would make this "talk" a bit too religin vs atheist. Too many of those.... that is why only several out of all the others told cheese why the beleive. or perhaps they need a beating or flogging.... In any case still, this will become too much of a religoes .
Well I believe that there is a God because my brain tells me that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-05-03 at 00:55:47
I don't support the concept of God, because it has a tendency to simply be "Join us or burn!", and the Satan character is a nice excuse. "The Devil made me do it!". It's all convenient, but it lacks reason. I've thought that maybe God is a child in an alternate dimension, playing with... toys or legos or something. And maybe there's an infinite chain of God's like this supporting all of the other Universes... or just no God. I'm not really sure, and dying to meet nonexistence scares the hell out of me. Athostic?

It is flawed from a scientific point of view because it implies that something had to exist before the Universe existed. Cause and effect, one of the fundamental laws of logic, breaks down when it encounters the Big Bang Theory.

I do not have a particular theory, and prefer to leave the problem of 'how did the Universe begin' as an 'open question.'

I could come up with a few hypotheses though. One example would be that the Universe does not comprise everything that has ever existed. There could be things outside the Universe that were here before the Universe was created. Of course that returns the same question... 'Well, what created them?'

It's impossible to answer a question like this. Perhaps there is some kind of infinite loop of Universes, I don't know. Maybe there is some entity which is not bound by the rules of the Universe; rules such as time. This could be the creator, although we have no idea what that is.
