well..kinda hard to describe
first part is like ff3 you touch a unit
but instead of going to an arena, you have the battle right on the actual terrain and to flee just try to run from the enemy. Also instead of the enemy directly attacking YOU, YOU are invincible and you have a lurker burrowed under you. The enemy attacks that lurker and once that lurker dies, you lose 100 health from your counter. If you die, you regain full health and you continue from where you left off.

PS credit is given to revelade for the lurker burrowed under the unit hp system =)

The battle system sounds like the Avarian Chronicals. A job system would be cool. happy.gif
I'd have to see more on this to say much more about it.

Why isn't it like Avarian? Whenever you run into a group of monsters in Avarian and this one Minervia it is pretty much the same thing. But your right on the hp system, Avarian does not have one like Minervia, which I like the burrowed lurker thing better. biggrin.gif

Sniper any updates on your map?

After WEEKS of work, I've finally come up with some screen shots:

[attachmentid=10521]

[attachmentid=10522]

ADDITION:
After WEEKS of work, I've finally come up with some screen shots:

[attachmentid=10521]
Structure of a house

[attachmentid=10522]
Example of interaction between you and others

[attachmentid=10523]
Example of the battle system

[attachmentid=10525]
(this is just a piece of terrain i'm very proud of, really doesnt explain anything about the map wink.gif

Also, I've gone through a bit more with the map and added a few things such as a stamina system, random item drop system, and potion "stock markets"

I would like to note that Revelade was not the first person to come-up with this idea, only the first to create a map for it, and even if he were, I gave him the idea.

This looks awsome sniper. I like the interior of that house/building. Im also looking forward to the "unique" battle system.

If u need a tester, you know who to ask. biggrin.gif

The battle system's not sounding very unique... Are you using any burrowed units, cuz I hate when burrowed units attack or something or like get up and unburrow...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sniper on 2005-06-17 at 21:04:05
the lurker wont unburrow, trust me on that XD
and i didnt say relevade was the first to come up with the idea, it's just that its his map where i got the idea

Revelade isn't the first person to include it in a map, deep blue by qPirateKing had it in his Deep Blue map... which was never completed.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2005-06-18 at 01:46:20
Umm...
Rev's Battle System 4 is way older than Deep Blue...
Even 5 is older...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LethaL on 2005-06-18 at 02:29:18
I'm using a similar system, but I thought of it myself (I knew it was in other maps, I just didn't know exactly how it was done).

20 Burrowed Drones under your player, always centered. 20 triggers, each drone represents 5% health. Say 7 drones were killed and you had 13 left, you would have (13 * 5) 65% health left.
The only problem with mine that won't occur in yours is splash damage. a Firebat will kill you 20X faster than a Marine will (Which is why I'm avoiding the use of splash units; not too hard).
Then again, my RPG will have the use of RTC and TBC with this.

Anyways, good luck with this. It seems like you know what you're doing. tongue.gif Only thing I don't like is square terrain. I've always recognized RPG's as ISOM, and Extended terrain (slanted terran, not straight up/down). It makes me think it's unprofessional. disgust.gif Let's hope you can prove me wrong.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2005-06-18 at 03:15:19
I've always liked "perfect" terrain as I call it, being a perfectionist and thus liking perfect symetry and such.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sniper on 2005-06-18 at 12:43:46
Yea same here. I'm only using "square terrain" as the building's interior, and "sidewalks" in the towns.

Also, wouldn't the use of drones for hp be hard to keep track of?

*Nah man I think its easyer LethaL's way. and also lets you be a bit more detailed with the life points.

I can PM you the map if you want to see it.

Trigger
Description:
Detecting # of Drones
Players:
¤ Player 1 (Allied Computer)
Conditions:
¤ Current Player Commands Exactly 6 Drones
Actions:
¤ Set Hit Points for all Dark Templar owned by Player 2 (You) at 'Center Player' to 30%
¤ Preserve Trigger

I did this for 20 times, each changing the # of Drones and the % HP changed to. Now the enemies can see the burrowed drones, but the drones are allied to the enemy so they won't unburrow. The enemy attacks the drones instead of your player, and when a drone dies, the correct trigger will fire and subtract 5% health.
