I use them both.
I, and lots of people agree, say that Starforge and SCXE are the best combonation tongue.gif
Some people just replace SF with SCMD...

I think it is best to use all three editors because each of them have their own good points.

Download the proper version... SCXE has a german version and an english one.

SCMDraft to me is the same as StarForge.
Just made a by a different person, and more annoying.

More annoying perhaps because you are not used to it. I am annoyed at SF for crashing so much pinch.gif

You'll be amazed at how many things crash SF when you use it for as many reasons and ways as I do.

Like what? Everything that has previously crashed SF for me is fixed.

By simply typing wrong a function.

I use both, but i really like X-tra better. Forge is too slow for my liking.

actually..i use SF+SCMD2 works way better for me
-scmd2 doesnt delete sprites and still places the ISOM terrain perfectly

In a trigger or something? If I type something wrong in a trigger it just sais "___ not recognized" or something like that.

I use Starcraft X-tra editor, for triggers/ Normal terrain
and
Starforge, for terrain and map reavlers,
i have no clue how to operate SF'S trigger system, and dont really feel like tring
and sf never crashed any of my maps, ... yet.. >.< some just messed up tile, but i always keep a back up.

Starforge for almost everything. X-tra for the terrain and creat units with property trigger and for re ordering the triggers. So it is kind of hard to say for me which one is better. Starforge hardly crashes for me but occasionaly it will.

Sometimes deleting certain triggers crash SF.
Some places where you click will crash SF.

There are many many random crashes that I encounter when mapping. This is the main reason I do not like to use SF.

Maybe its something with your computer... I can delete anything, click anywhere, and never randomly crash.

Only problem was on other computer it would start crashing, but never experienced on this one.

If a program crashes, it is not a good thing. Regardless of how frequent.

I prefer SCMD2/Starforge, no xtra. Why?
  • SF has text triggers.
  • SCMD has ISOM terrain.
  • SCMD places units only where they can be placed (stopping unit unplaceables)
  • SF and SCMD2 support sprites, xtended players, xtened units, rect/master terrain, weird colors, and all that funky stuff

Just because you cannot use it does not mean it's bad. I use it almost every time I'm making triggers and I have no problems with it.

Not to mention sometimes when making a trigger, sometimes when deleting units, sometimes when editing strings.

StarForge. It's the only thing I ever use.

Doesn't crash too much if you know what not to do.
For me, it only very rarely crashes.
Corrupting Maps and making them crash when played is more of a problem for me, and that's only if I forget to make backups.

If it takes a 12 year old about 30 seconds to figure out how, just by looking at it(JUST looking at it, not clicking or typing anything), and 5 minutes to get used to it, it's probably not hard.
It's saved enough time for me to make up for getting used to it a couple hundred times over.
