I think everyone will agree that many maps in the Database ("pro" maps) suck big time. There are some jewels there too, but still, I would expect only the best maps to make it there. So what exactly is the purpose of this thing if pretty much every map can make it in? I don't want to be mean, I just want to know.
People from the download database choose which maps are allowed to be in the pro melee section. Most of them are pretty good. The pro melee maps are balanced with good terrain etc.
Entropy is the one who manages that section.
ADDITION:
Entropy is the one who manages that section.
Not just him.
Beer and DTBK approve melee maps and i've seen em put pro maps in the melee section.
But seriously yoshi, i still think it's a good idea to leave minimap screenshots for melee maps because that's what they're all about.
many maps there are not balanced nor very enjoyable. And you can see that with a quick look, don't need to go into details too much. I've seen 96*96 maps with very short ways between both players and no choke. Ok bloodbath may be fun too, but it is not what you would call a "pro" map is it? Just klick through some of them and u'll see what I mean.
I dont think there should even be a pro section. I mean, it's only like 3 people who are determining which maps go into the pro sections and which ones arent.
And all three of them have different opinions and criterion. One person might approve one map as a pro, another might not. So really there is no fair or best way of doing things like this.
The pro section needs to be restricted to actual pro maps.
In that case, I recommend a criteria is made and used to define what a "pro" map would look like.
What do you mean? Pro maps are maps that pro players play on, that is the only real definition. Pro maps are the maps you see for WCG, PGTour, etc. The maps specially made for pro players to play on, in other words. They are all public and they are usually updated after the first couple months after release to fix all the balance issues.
