Now I guess, since the past doesn't seem too fun and I like my computer too much. Unless there was a 40 years before WWII option.

OR in the time the show Andy Griffith takes place.

I basically wouldn't want to live in a modern world in some ways. There's just too much to worry about and we might have too much knowledge for our own good. With all our technology we are worrying about running out of natural resources, all the things going wrong in the world, and all the complex political crap. I would like to live in a simpler time where people didn't have much to worry about except to survive and continue the human race.

I also think the Age of Discovery would be a nice time to live with, because there would be so much to discover and learn that already hasn't been explored. Nowadays sure there are many things to learn, but now they are so complicated and don't deal with the simple things in life. Back then there were life changing discoveries that changed how you viewed the world. I also think there was less stress back then, I wouldn't mind working hard to survive, and there weren't so many things you had to keep track of and organize.

Or I would even live in even more simpler times when people were oblivious to everything such as the Flourishing of Civilizations or Egyptian Period.

The middle ages are too barbaric for me though.

lol discovering things that era could've gotten you killed, you know.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-05-18 at 00:04:29
I never said I would be the one discovering things xP, I just think it would be an eye opener if someone else discovered something that changed the way everyone thought about the world and to live through that.

I also think that the present is a little too "easy" in the way that everything is sort of done for you. Many people are lazy.

I also went with the Flourishing Times. Things seemed so amazing back then. If only the Dark Ages never happened. Just imagine how the world would be today....

Anyways, I went with then becuase I feel like I waste too much time on the computer. If I had no idea what it was and I was able to do something helpful I would be a lot happier. But, if I wasn't in the flourishing ages, I would like to be in the Age of Enlightenment. There were so many great t hings that happened then!

Definately Age of Enlightenment! I would have loved to talk to Locke and Voltaire and Rousseau and Montesquieu about their theories of "Natural Laws" and the power of the people. It is of course these thinkers whom we must thank for the precious "freedom" we fight for today. Without them, who knows what would have influenced Jefferson and the founding fathers when drafting the Articles of Confederation, the Declaration of Independence, and the U.S. Constitution.

Flourishing of civilization. Specifically, either the Fertile Cresant or the Mayan Empire. They were both considered very advanced for their time. No one has yet replicated the incredible way the Mayans grew crops. They were also the first to invent the parachute, sort of. Plus this was the time when ideas were created rapidly, people had more time on their hands, so they thought about life. The other time period that I would want to live in is the 1920's, there are new inventions all over, everything is cheap, (mass production during wartime leaving extra supplies) everyone is happy, (the end of a war) and the cities were run by common men. You forgot the Industerial Revolution, the first agricultural revolution and the second agricultural revolution eras. But what ever I geuss world war eras, most likely around ww2.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2005-05-18 at 03:40:17
Those all fit under specific eras. The industral revolution and agricultural revolution were never culminated as an actual era in history, either. And I think the only good that came out of them was the factory. Other than that, the industrial revolution is synonymous with the American slave trade and indentured servitude under my book.

Hey, I base my name on it - 1991 to today is also called the 'Aquarian Age'.

But the past part about it is that life are actually more fare, in most of the others you could die and get bored so easily that life there from today's person's view seem actually pointless (as which they were).

Today, life are pointless too, but at least they're easy, last long, and full of bull**** to spend your time.

I choose the Age of Revolution and Change, more specifically the French Revolution.

Basicly because this is the era in which all theories and ideas of the Age of Enlightenment where starting to be put into action. Great changes occured during this era which would greatly shape the World as we know it today.
Nothing better than Logical and Rationalistic thinking mixed in with massive changes.

I'll ignore the Computer Age and go for the Imperialistic Age, because my country was the most powerful in the world during that time, and owned 1/4 of the Earth's landmass.

I'll have to say the age of computers. I'd rather live in this age where there are advanced computers that help to cure those who are in hospitals and help us to find a cure for disease.
