People are what they wear.
By this, the definition of it could mean that people (of any ages - or if you want to direct at a specific age) concentrate too much on their appearance, and first impressions. What thoughts does it give you about people clad in specific ways.
If you agree that people are what they wear, it doesn't mean that you agree that:
Jewellery all over themselves = a good person.
It may be that the stereotype has come to you that:
Jewellery all over themselves = something else.
Statistics are good, I know I found some statistics somewhere about a poll on whether teenagers focusing on their appearance.. but I need to find it again =/
Sorri if I didn't provide too much detail, I want this to expand freely so I don't want to influence too much on people's minds.
Share experiences, examples, initial thoughts, solutions or no solutions? Or is there really a problem about the media, talk about stereotyping, why people care so much on impressions, etc. =)
I agree that people care to much about what they look like. Even my mom is obsessed. Shes wearing a pair of pants, finds a hair on it, and then suddenly its filthy and cant be worn again (of course my family isnt the smartest

)
People would think less about themselves if they knew how solomn people thought of them. Really, how can people think about other people if almost every one is to worried about what they look like. The only thing i really worry about in my clothes is, "are they black?"
One question though, what would it mean with what i wear?
Black Shirt With some relembrence of death
Black Pants
On ocasions a Spiked Bracelet
I have a pentagram tattoo on my back
and i wear a necklace with a bird talon on it
Personally, I just grab whatever clothes are comfortable and throw them on, supposing they're not my mom's or brother's.
QUOTE
solomn
Umm... solemn just means ominious or grave.
Don't you mean "seldom"?
Well, it seems so. Most of the time it shows who you are. Unless you are in uniform or something.
Cloths express yourself, intrests, and crap. Like, i just like to wear jeans and a Led Zeppelin T-Shirt all of my life.

I get the impression that you're a badass.
MY clothes are mostly black :O Me likes
Black's my favourite colour -- I wouldn't mind wearing all black but I would still try to keep a nice and balanced attire...
But hey, I prefer all plain stuff really. I don't use clothes to express myself, just to keep me off the "300-pound-man-in-thong" image

(no im not 300 pounds nor do i wear a thong)

Its people like you that cause people like me to act the way we do :/ And no, i am not a "Badass" i just express my great intrest in death, and i infact like Satan more then god.... Because i like these things i am all of sudden "A punk" "A BadAss" "A Psychopath"
If thats the case well then i'll guess i just get on with my life and let you "Normal" People get on with your lives

What a badass you are. I usually wear blue and black, and green sometimes too. As long as I don't look entirely stupid, I'm fine.
I really don't have an opinion on what clothes people wear. There are plenty of people who act different than what they look like.
I just throw things together half awake in the morning. Mix and match always gets something tacky.

When it comes to clothes I don't care what I wear. I prefer dark clothes like black and dark blue. I also don't think that if a person that likes black or thinks death is interesting is a "bad ass" "punk" or a "psycopath". Just because someone acts or dresses or even talks a different way they souldn't be labeled right away.
i have about ten pairs of khaki pants. I prefer to wear my dull green t-shirts with these. I gnerally try to make some quick match, but for the most part I don't care.
I don't see why it matters what you wear as long as I'm comfy I'm good to go.
I judge people a lot on what they wear, if they wear crap, I don't think high of them, unless they show me otherwise. If someone wears Khakis or Polos, I think high of them...
This subject is like asking ppl wether or not they judge ppl by what they wear even though most of the time you can't judge a person just by what they wear. It's like walking into a nice resaraunt and seeing someone in black and thinking that they souldn't be there because they're a bum.

Black doesn't make you look like a bum...
If you where something, Nint-five Percent of the time it is because you want to wear it. Though this isn't the case for all people. You can normally tell who wants to wear what they are wearing and who doesn't. But if they wear Slu**y clothes, than usally they are not much of anything...
I'm not saying that all ppl arn't what they wear just some ppl are ok even if they wear black or khaki all the time.
Majority are what they wear...
Black and Khakis are good though... So are Suits, and Ties...
Suits and ties? So if our school was to start uniforms and that crap you'd agree? I don't think it would be fair. But nobody's listening to me so...

Oh well then what do you do?

I work... Like in a job.
Well duh. what kind of job? To me it looks like some sort of jet flyer or something of that sort.

I was stationed in Germany for F-15 Emplacement Training... But I now am on vaction for about two months...
I totally agree with Michael here
