Well, some of you have already seen the "counter" thread I made earlier.. This is sort of an extended version of that topic..

Its terrain I'm using in my upcoming map I posted the map if you would like to play it in game, The map isn't protected, but please dont steal the terrain, thinking of ideas for this sorta stuff is harder than it looks, thx! biggrin.gif

This is the Bar.. Don't ask why there is blood on the floors...

Entering the Real World...

Tops of buildings..

Blizzard is Watching... ermm.gif

Here's the map also, (don't know why you would want it) only thing that you get from this is the moving civilians and medics, and its easier to see some buildings and stuff while in game, compared to when just looking at screenshots..

ENJOY! happy.gif

Actually, this is pretty cool. That you've used it for both indoors and outdoors urban areas shows it could have some good utility for this sort of thing. Try messing around with plant and rock sprites to see if anything else can be made.

I've always liked the Installation tileset due to the purity of it's palette (compare Installation with Space to see the quality difference). I think this would work well for one of my maps...

Gad, that first pic is awesome... perfect little tables, and such.
The edges of the roof in the second pic could be cleaned up a little, but I don't think it's necessary.

Thx Nuclear

Tux, I added some jungle bush sprites and such, but installation tileset changed the bush to a blackish color.. looked like it was covered in oil or something..
Didn't look good at all sick.gif

Well nevermind, I'll do some experimenting on my own. I might use this for another map, but I want to see if more effects can be made than simply the indoors installation stuff (like your city buildings etc).

Hmm, using traps is something different. But yeah, that could be useful. Traps on other tilesets can also be used for water, alternate floors, paths, mini platforms, etc.

Man, that terrain is awesome. Using installation for outside stuff is a really great idea, and looks cool.

It remembers me of the poor zone of a city of the future.

Quick question, does anyone have some "Ambient" sounding music for a bar? or the slums?

(I'm thinking of submitting to Ambient Contest tongue.gif)

I hope you guys realize it's sprite intense. A lot of that stuff is just well placed units.

That looks REALLY NICE. to do doors, isnt there a doorway in wall doodads, i think that might fit in with a few sprites.

Players don't care whether or not it is sprite intensive, as long as it doesn't get to the point of the game noticably lagging. He has made a great looking environment with very few sprites, relatively.

If it looks good and the map works its okay. And the map doesn't look cluttered.

EDIT: I didn't read the post above mine... bleh, same idea tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kamikaze.Kow on 2005-05-23 at 19:34:09
Ya, it is quite sprite intensive, the traps are units not sprites.
I used units because for some reason it was possible to click the sprites...

Anyway, it is sprite intensive, but this isnt a mass map or a defense or anything, its more of an rpg, the ammount of units probably wont even exceed 200...

The door for the futuristic building is hard to make, because whenever i make a door it looks really, really, really Bad...

any1 wanna try to help me out here?
(by the way, the regular door thing looks funny... so dont suggest it..)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2005-05-23 at 20:02:53
Units have an amount they take up and so do sprites. If you make an entire map out of this you would run short of units and sprites. You need to use it sparringly, thats all I'm saying.
