I've been thinking about something...

You see, I've had this odd gift. A gift of observation, perception, the ability to look at something and see it in a way that makes it so completely obvious, yet is missed by many others. Ive proven it to my friends, and they agree with me aswell. This gift has been of great help to me over the years, but I still have yet to understand it completely... I have my own opinion over what it is, and why I might have it, but I've been curious to think of everyone else's opinions.

As for what this little gift is, I call it the "Eye of the Reason." Some people just call it being smart. I don't know for sure, so I wanted to see what you guys would say...so....er....go right on out and say it please!

Do you need attention? Do you need people to say, "Wow, you're a smart guy. I wish I could notice things like you." If so, just cut the bullshit and say so.

What I want to know is what it is if anyone else knows about something similar. Maybe its thought patterns in my mind...maybe i'm obsessed with myself and simply generate these ideas...maybe not. I don't know, I'm just asking to see if anyone else knows anything about this, because I'm not really familiar with it.

It's not that I don't like you, simply because I don't know you. It's more like, I don't like how you're so arrogant right now. (You've kinda toned down a little) Arrogance isn't really that bad really, except when you're really arrogant. If you fix that, we koo.

Your first post does sound kind of arrogant.

Everybody has things they are good at, if what your good at is problem solving and pattern recoginition, whatever. It may just have something to do with what you were exposed to at very young age. I don't believe it is any sort of special difference than compared to others.

Yea....sorry, I tend to get arrogant when I'm really into something, and I sorta forget about that fact that i'm asking a question. Anyway, something that happened to me at a young age? Might be, I do remember some stuff about that. I kinda grew up around older people, in a more or less kidless neighborhood, so I acted as an observer most of the time. Would that effect it in some way?

Hmm, that would be an interesting study. Would kids growing up without companionship of other kids and/or siblings do better in academics?

As an only child, growing up without any friends, I do find that I have an advantage when it comes to subjects like programming or math, at least when compared to my peers. Note - I consider myself only decent at math and programming, despite the fact that I do get obscenely high marks in both. Heck, Yoshi probably can kick my ass in programming, as it is not the excess of talent that allows me to excell at those two subjects but rather, a lack of incompetence. I mean how the HELL can't half of these idiots figure out how to use arrays after two years of learning it?!?!

1) I don't think I am. But i'm not in the position to say that, am I? Still, even so, you aren't in the position to make judgements like that based soley on a few posts.

2) I use the word reason because this is how events usually work out for me:

Dude's got a problem. He seems to only be viewing the side of the problem that he's concerned about. I look at the problem from all sides to find a reasonable answer or opinion. Dude see's his mistake and how he over looked it, and the problem is solved, and he feels a little enlightened...

Yes, this does sound self-promoting, doesnt it? Im sorry if it does, this is how it really is. And Im still sorry to all those people I gave a wrong impression to. Its just a mystery that I've never figured out, and I really want to know what its about.

Lol, exactly what I thought when I read the first few sentences.

I suppose you could have some gift, but then again everyone likes to think of themselves as having some kind of special talent or gift that they are good at, afterall everyone is different and has a different personality. I know when I was younger I liked to think of myself as special. But really, everyone is equal and it's not good to think of yourself as superior to everyone else. You won't get anywhere that way and you won't get any respect.

I think your eye of reason is your ability to state the obvious that people already assume everyone else knows, so they don't bother to say it, but then you come and say it anyway



That's usually what happens when everyone in the world thinks differently and has different beliefs, environment etc. It would surprise me if no one in the world thought of things in a different way.

I wouldn't say that. I'm not smarter than a lot of people, yet they're doing worse than me. I'd say it's because I'm never been really social, so I devout all my attention to my studies and stuff. Programming is enjoyable to me, instead of brutal work it is for a good deal of the class. But then again, I'm good at it, so it will be enjoyable to me.

Heightened ability to think? No. But the fact that you have more time to think means that you would probably do better than a lot of others.

I didn't bother reading your post too thoroughly. It's pretty obvious that you're trying to give a sort of magical power to yourself, I've done it before, in ways benign and not of a self worshipping nature, but to simply think "hey I can reason so well, no one else can, I must be Super Reason Man with maigcal powers from the magical world of Reason!" You crave something abit higher then a human, eh? Well, too bad. You lost the genetic lottery.

Well, of the things I'm familiar with, you mihgt be referring to open-mindedness, simply high intelligence, or what I call "uncommon sense". Things that seem obvious and completely logical to me can seem illogical, weird, stupid, or even completely nonsensical to other people my age, sometimes older.

Wonderful...people think im some sort of self absorbed snob now. -_- This was just an innocent attempt to discuss something thats been with me for a while! Its not some stupid magic ability, and its not self promotional. I've was curious damnit! All I ever asked for was some decent replies, so far I've only gotten 3. What was everything else? Just a description of me. Why the hell is it that every single person thinks i'm arrogant? This is the stuff I was talking about! I'm not an arrogant person, I never have been. As far as I remember, I was depressed and outcasted for a long time, I never expressed shit, I never argued, I never went against anything. Truth. The only truths I know of are the ones I can confirm, and those are truths about myself. What you call arrogance is me openly and honestly telling the truth of what I think, because those are about the only real truths I know of. I don't hold back about truth when I want to share it. Ow. I read this up to the part of your previous post's pure wall of text, and now my brain is ranted-out.

Man, chill out. Your ego is gonna be the death of you. Don't stake so much into what people have to say. The answer to other's thinking is a simpler than you want to believe, but you won't find it by dwelling on your own thoughts. It just turns into a dirty catch 22, where you fall more and more into yourself, and in turn your own depression and isolation, thus taking you further away from the real answers.

But yeah, I know what you're talking about. Isolated thinking does grant a neutrality of thought and clarity of observation that you can't get under the weight of personal emotions and social pressure and bias. It's not some magical ability. I have it all the time, when I get the chance to introvert my own thinking.

No one is equal. That's propaganda that society tries to instill on its people to make them stay in line. Some people are more equipped for taking advantage of things in life than others, and that's that. But by all means, don't stop believing that if it helps you get by. Society depends on people being complacent and conformant in order to function properly, and hence where that mindset comes from. Otherwise, we'd live in anarchy.

Yea I know that. I mostly meant everyone has equal rights but everyone is different in personality and talents, but it is bad to think of yourself superior in all aspects, because there is always someone who is probably more skilled. And yes, if you are going to continue to live in this society you must conform to many standards to live an "average" life.

But FallenDreamers so called "eye of reason" isn't really a special talent that no one else has I think the assumption of arrogance comes from you assuming you have some special odd gift that no one else seems to have.

I say close the thread. This topic is now just gonna be on how arrogant/unarrogant fallen is. Fallen may not be an arrogant person, but so far he's ACTED arrogant. And that's no biggie.
