Modding is now a supported feature at Staredit Network. This is the last area of map making we do not cover. People have requested it, so there you go. Use it well.
See the new modding forums! Although I do not expect it to be as popular as other sites, we'll offer some hosting for
SMALL mods (being 8 megs max or something). Expect the mod hosting to be up tommorow, so get your mods ready!
We also have a new
Review and Recommend forum, for members to give unoffical map reviews. This section is more of being "tested" to see how much its used and how constructive it really is, I'll remove it if its unsecessful though.
Interesting... I like the new Recommend and Review section. Nice job.
Use if it you like it. Otherwise, I will assume people don't like it.
It's hard to use it when people hardly post *topics* in it... (addressed to other forums since people are going to love to show off their map and hope for a great review ;p)
Cool!
Now I can learn how to make mods at SEN =)
YAY less PM's! lol.
d'oh we need a modding programs section for the dldb.
[08:35 PM] (*): What about the DLDB?
[08:35 PM] (*): New section
[08:35 PM] (*): Agh I need a glass of milk
[08:35 PM] Yoshers (You know, God): did you read my news post at all?
'Ya beat me to it. Although there is your response also.

Closest thing I've ever done to modding was trying to extract the unit bmp sprite files from the grp or w/e to get those unit spinners. I had to download some of those mod programs like retroGRP or whatever it is.
Do you want all 28 mods/tc's I've collected? Oh wait... "small mods" that takes out about half of the monsters I have...

, hmm anyone feel like playing an AvsP mod Sc style? Granted its not totally complete... far from it infact

.
This is really cool. I like playing with different mods (especially Spree) so this will kick ass!
ive never tried mods, because ive been scared of them (hey screw you) because of things like: Backdoors, can i stop it from running, will it kill sc.. and so-forth..
i will probably try one now seeing as its from SEN (i trust this site for some reason)
it will probably be a good oppurtunity to show those like me, that are new or scare of mods, what and how and what they do and so on...
the rating forum is a good idea also, like for people trying to get reviews on thier maps, cuz thier not a pro mapmaker so they prbably wouldnt get one in normal circumstances.
heh.
good job.
I hope the modding programs will be up for download here soon.
I always hear people talking about doing stuff to units, upgrades, graphics and sound, the tech tree, and some others, but never triggers. Can you add or change triggers with a mod?
I think these new forums were a great idea, people are already using them.
Cool. Can somebody add mod programs to the dldb? I dont have any, so i cannot contribute to the forums yet. ALthough i can imagine making some pretty fun melee games with mods.
I like the mods forums the best, because i barely see any/cool ones. Plus I anyways wanted to make one
Pffft, so far im like the only one that's actually writing good sized reviews rather than just one or two paragraphs worth of laud and exuberance

Set a rule that nobody can start a thread to review and rate their own maps.

That's already been talked about Moose, read the Pinned thread in that section
That mods forum might just survive for a month, who knows :\
Althought, 8 megs is BIG, you're actually offering hosting big mods not small ones (which is good).
I'm sure it will last a whole lot longer than a month, it's doing terrific now, and so many people are interesting in Modding
So does this mean I have a new job at the DLDB?
It'll be fun testing out mods and modding programs.

Yes but much more time consuming because you'd have to install the mod.
I'm thinking that we should hire another DLDB-Keeper who knows a thing or two about mods(unless Chu already knows some stuff about mods, because I know nothing).
Wow, that forum is already going fast. Its popular.
*RexyRex points at self.
Heh.
ADDITION:
I bet there are a lot more qualified people than me, though.
