I managed to find a video of our robot that another team posted. A lot of people liked it.

See our robot

Note that the video shows our worst round. We won every round except 2 of the last ones when everyone stratigized against us.

UPDATE:

Videos of how the game works:

I wonder, how would you define what is a robot and what is not?
You control those machines when some sort of gadget right?
Shouldn't a robot be able to do things by itself? I mean,it has sensors that detects what is going on around and acts according the situation.

Besides,I doubt it really follows Asimov's 3 laws of robotics wink.gif

If you look at the intro videos, it mentions automous mode for 15 seconds. Pure programming.

Heh, just a small criticism, you really need a tripod, or a better camera/cameraman. Anyways, after seeing that robot, I can now say that our team's robot will be owned. Though we came in 8th place at Pheonix out of 40 teams (or something). Our autonomous mode is hardly working, and since those electronics guys blew out the IR sensors, we're relying on dead-reckoning last time I heard (which was before they got on the plane for Pheonix, which we had no autonomous mode whatsoever at that point).

Yes, the robots are controlled through FM (correct me if I'm wrong Yoshi) radio waves. You use joysticks, switches, buttons, and stuff like that in order to control the robot.

Yoshi, is that Lexan on your robot? And how much does it weigh?

Just a humourous sidenote, our robot was very overweight (our team is notoriously known for being just barely light enough to be entered) so we put it on a diet plan of "swiss cheesing", which, as the name kinda suggests, involves putting holes all over the robot. Even after everything but the support Lexan plate and the frame was drilled to bits, we were still kinda overweight (the two scales that we layed it on - one on the left and the other on the right - were messed so that everytime the robot shifted a bit the scales would give a new reading...which really sucked), so it was decided to bring the drills and a backup hand drill to Pheonix and drill material out right in front of them. While the guys were backing their stuff up, one guys said, "Those custom guys would think we're bringing on a bomb," and a teacher from the girls school that was using our shop said, "No, I'm afraid that they think we're building the bomb on the plane," which then our teacher said, "Maybe we should arrive at the airport at 7:30 instead of 9:30." Oh well, at least they came back alright.

I'll try to dig up some pictures of our robot. Probably will be hard, since our Robotics server is going down constantly all the time.

Accually, it was a video someone put on chief dephi (a team we 0wn3d!)

We're fixing all our robot up a bit more, we expect to get a nice ranking wink.gif

The whole reason we got 7th, was because our allies autonomous mode f'ed up majorly.

arnt those laws like never hurt a human always do what a human tells it to and never hurt another robot? it was some time ago since i last read asimov biggrin.gif
