Not a big suggestion, just a pet peeve. Not all the threads there are constructive, sure, but it's kinda demeaning to the topics there that are to label them all Garbage, even if no one really consciously heads it. Garbage should implied closed or content-inappropriate topics, methinks.

Better. I just think of other forums that have garbage forums, and think that it's kinda an inaccurate label both by comparison and in the general meaning and implication.

When I first started the site, it was meant to be a joke. We actually did have an off topic forum, which was merged with the "garbage" at the time because they were extremely related in terms of topics created.

Hmm, well it's become a kind of SEN thing to call it the garbage forum, but if there were to be an actual garbage forum then traditionally it should be for stuff that would otherwise fall under the spam or rated R (or worse) catagories.
The dumb part about having forums like those, is that I've seen them turn into the most popular forums on other boards before (most posts and views). So maybe that wouldn't be a good idea, especially with all the younger members here.

I remember when there was an off-topic and a garbage forum.... i thought the off-topic was where we talked about non-related stuff and the garbage forum was where u threw all the locked topics and whatnot

Same...I'm too used to it being Off-Topic. I remember a long time ago there was an Off-Topic one but it changed to Garbage because of merge.

Seriously, it should be "Off-Topic (Garbage)" because it would be both, making everyone happy. And us who are used to a longer name are also happy ("Off-Topic" is just so short
