I have looked at the tutorial that DT_Battlekruser has made and it works great... But, I think that I am missing a file or something. I have followed the directions perfectly but I have no results. My question is, where do I "play" the mod? Do I play it on B.net or do I play it on Single Player "Play Custom Map"? And once I am there I am not seeing anything happening... A little help?

I didn't use the tutorial..yet...
But you run the .exe, then every map you play is now using your mod. If it didn't work then something must have not saved...or something.

You'll have to ask someone who's actually made a mod before. wink.gif

It doesn't matter if it's on Battle.net or singleplayer.
You just double-click the .exe file, and, other then unit modifications, it's just like regular StarCraft- you can loginto Battle.net, you can play singleplayer, you can play campaign missions, and so forth.

Well, I am not sure if I am missing anything.... But, I'll keep trying.

ADDITION:
What does "Invalid Pointer Operation" Mean? It occurs when I exit Arsenal III....

Well, the unit thing still isn't working. I'll tell you ecxactly what I am doing. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

1.) Open Arsenal III and I go to Unit Editor...
2.) I get the Terran Marine
3.) Change HP and Shield to 1337 and I check the shields box.
4.) I go to the advanced Tab and click "Cloakable" and "Worker"
5.) I go to graphics and Change Portrait to Ghost Idle
6.) Then I go to AI Actions and change all of the actions to "Attack"
7.) Open Win MPQ
8.) File --> New --> Save as "Marine.MPQ"
9.) I click "Add" and I add the Marine.Dat
10.) I then type in arr\
11.) Close WinMPQ and open up MPQDraft
12.)Load the patch
13.)Click on the appropiate SC's
14.) I browse for the correct MPQ
15.) Open up the MPQ (Marine.MPQ)
16.) Load SC
17.) Go into Single Player and start a custom game
18.)Build Marine

That is exactly what I do. And the unit is still "normal" and not doing anything "special".

SC mods are very touchy. You have to name the dat "units.dat"

Are you kidding me... I hate it >.<... So, I just change the Marine.Dat to "units.dat"?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-05-25 at 19:35:06
Yeah, I followed your steps to the letter, guessed the problem, it didn't work, so i changed it to units.dat and it worked.

Notice when you're saving in ar3 it says "unit data file units.dat", not *.dat

According to those step-by-step instructions...there is no Marine.dat. bleh.gif

ADDITION:
Wait wait wait..I didn't see it. closedeyes.gif
Nevermind.

Well, it works... Thanks for the help BattleKruser...

Another question.

How do you make it so when it attacks you can see the attack actually happen? I have made a marine into a zealot that is able to attack from like 5 or 6 square grids. Do I need to edit the weapon in Arensal III? If so, how-what do I edit?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-05-25 at 19:44:05
Huh? Not sure what you mean here.

Missiles and appear-on-target animations are from the weapon anim sprite.

Unit-firing animations such as marine gun lighting up are part of the unit.

Well nevermind. I am going to stop asking questions because this is way easier than I thought it was. This is so cool. happy.gif I made a Dark Templar attack with the BattleCruiser's bullet and it exploded with Maelstrom... This is cool. Thanks for all of the help! happy.gif
