It just rocks out hardcore. It's very difficult to win, and requires good players to get far. You're always on the verge of death, and there are many side missions that will aid you in survival. I myself have never actaully beaton the game, but I did get to the last 15 minutes, which as you'll soon understand, is a fair acheivment. One must work with the team in order to make it far, and assign tasks that players are most qualified to carry out, be it because of their position, or numbers.

If you're a good humoured fellow you'll find a lot of jokes can be made throughout this game, due to stratagies typical of Raccoon City. For example, everyone agrees to make a med wall, I typed "Women and children in front!" Maybe it's just me, but things like that make games all the more enjoyable.

This is not a game where one can just sit and watch stuff die... unless you want to watch yourself die. Players will be forced to employ medic tactics, lockdown drills, and bunker survival to name a few.

In short, play this with a bunch of people who don't suck, and you'll have a ball surviving (I think the most exciting thing for me is running out to save other players, or objectives knowing full well that it only takes 2 or 3 hits for one of your men to die; which is intimidating when the enemy has several hundred zombies chasing you.

I hope this is the good version (due to the difficulty a lot of losers rig the map to make it easy), I used to play a lot of pubbies with raccoon city and I've forgotten which one I first played.

Probably my favorite UMS game, which involves a significant investment of time.

I beaten this 2 times, It's censored.gif ing hard to kill Nemesis. I was lucky enough to kill the Caniters before the last one hit the middle of RCPD(Raccoon City Polie Depart) center, I'm a pro at this map though. Here's a hint, PICK MARINES then PICK GHOSTS when dragoons come.

Actually, picking ghosts when goons come is a really really really bad idea, as ghosts deal concussive damage, and concussive damage simply put, sucks , agains dragoons (Its 50% i believe).
On to the review:
This is an absolutly awesome map, its stolen several hundered hours of my life.
Oh, and DEATH to the riggers!

Actually, just get UCBS members and you're set to go.

Shatter, not from my persepective. I upgrade only weapons, never armour, I end up doing enough damage. Think of it this way, if you lock down all those goons at the choke of the center then the lings and zeals can't get to you, and when one slips through it dies almost instantaneously. Ghosts also have greater range. I consider myself to be an expert at this map, but I always played pubs so it would be like me and one other guy who were actually good. Aren't UCBS members nearly impossible to get, maybe you know a trick? I know getting meds with all those crimson heads is a pain in the neck, so we usually just assign the newb to go all meds and wall, that way everyone gets a tonne of cash (meds auto generate cash, because they can't kill).

I usually just go all ghosts because I never lose any and in great numbers they just kick ass. My favorite mission is the truck, I always call it first, despite how little troops I have, and the truck always makes it with me, it's just so intense going out even though you know enemy's are swarming out there. Sometimes a pal will even cover me from the inside of the base on the cliff when I'm near enough.

But yeah, glad to see I'm not the only one.

ya I have beaten it a couple times. UBCS soldiers are easy if you have a good player defending the check point nearest to the gunshop. Usually I try and make that check point and the one nearst to the hospital entrance alive. Usually you try and have one player be ghosts, one player be ubcs, and one play be 3/4 medics and 1/4 ubcs. Ghosts lock down, ubcs stim and then run in and kill everything,. medics heal you.

I was accually REEEAAALLLYY pissed when i beat this cause you sit there for a hour and a half trying not to die cause of your retarded allies and then you finally BEAT IT AND IT HAS NO ENDING WHAT SO EVER IT WAS A TOTAL DISAPOINTMENT i mean if i were to make a map that hard i would have a good ending as a reward for beating it BUT NOPE not this one....which is why i dont play it nemore disgust.gif its a good game tho.

Here is your ending:

Good job beating that game. You seriously have skill, I have tried this game about 30 times now and I ALWAYS die. Seriously, good job.

I dunno what versions you guys are playing but I've never gotten UBC's (in part because I don't know how). You guys must know some "secrets" that make it a lot easier cause I'm always stuck using the regular stuff. You guys are making it sound easy, I didn't even think it was really possible to beat without having no n00bs (and games I play, almost everyone is, not even full house a lot of the time). Maybe he dumbed it down after beta?

Heh, I could never beat this. The only time I ever beat this was in the rigged version (1.099 I think...), and even then, it took a few tries. Mainly, the only part about the rigged version is you get a Dark Archin and a few air units. Air units gets raped easily, and the only use of the Dark Archon is to mind control the mass of civs.

Personally, I prefer the very very early beta, like 1.01 I think. It was the one where you get the barracks at the beginning. That one is nearly impossible too though...

In 1.08, never beat it, despite tries after tries. I got to Nemesis once...and then was promptly owned. Even a med wall couldn't hold them off...

We need more maps like these.

Resident Evil: Raccoon City

Terrain: This gives a pretty good feel towards the game. Just looking around gives a thought of, "This is a battlefield. These guys here are ready to give their lives for the city's survival." Of course, it's not exact, but that's my opinion anyways.

Originality: Although pretty much zombie games on b.net are survive and such, this gives it to you in very distinctive stages. It even varies with several types of 'mini-games' to offset the tension you get from just staying alive. Not bad.

Complexity: I actually never beat the game before, so I guess that gives some merit to it's difficulty. This is a map that you should not expect to beat on your first try. It is also not a map you would beat with a public crowd from b.net. The learning curve is rather minor, considering you won't be thrown around a series of beacons and such.

As I said, i've never gotten around to beating the game, but it gets addictive due to the fact that you want to see what happens next. You want to see whether the city will live through it or not. That's also because I've never played the Resident Evil games, but it still gives the purpose of playing the game. A great zombie game that stands out amoung others.

Terrain - 8/10
Originality - 7/10
Complexity - 3/10
Fun Factor - 6/10
Replay Value - 9/10
Difficulty - 8/10

8 / 10.0 - Overall

Resident Evil : Racoon City

This map is definetly my favourite map of all time on SC, it's done to look very realistic and it is. I definetly give it 10//10 because it has an RPG and Bound twist into it, its not just a simple defence.

The game has a very good difficulty level, I would have to say perfectly balanced.

The things I don't like about the map is how people hog the civilians or if they don't know how to play and then you tell them what to do and they still dont do it pinch.gif

I used to play this map on Bnet a lot. I would find it hosted a lot by pubs. I love this map and the teamwork involved and all the secrets hidden there and the missions you have to do. I don't think I've beaten it, but I've gotten up to nemesis. This is made by Panzer_Kavalier or something like that right? He's a good mapmaker. I love how the city is structured and how the enemies attack.

The side missions are really exciting, especially going through the sewers to get that special Ghost, it made me pretty nervous with zombies attacking everywhere while trying to make sure you dont die after you come out.

When I first started learning all the side missions I thought the map had so many small details and places to go to.

This was a very good map. By far original and a perfect example of a well balanced RPG / Defence.

The role you are given is a Raccoon Police. You watch as the once busting City of Racoon turns into an apocalyptical nightmare. By far "the best" defence map i have ever played. The storyline is great and this is a map you will get hooked on.

This map has various weapons used to defeate the B.O.Ws. I (myself) being a very big Resident Evil fan also enjoyed the well thoughtout and detailed storyline. Although the terrain was very basic, it outlined the map perfectly for this City-like-look.
