First, would it be simpler to turn a comsat station into a unit, or give an SCV scanner sweep? I tried to give SCV scanner sweep but it wouldn't work...
Essentially, what's the easiest way (and how to do it) to give a unit scanner sweep?
Did you edit the Tech Use Requirement properties of scanner sweep to include the SCV?
My problem with MEMGraft is that
a)I save my file as a .mgp I try to open it. MEMGraft crashes
b)I can't seem to write a .qdp or .mem file for MPQDraft to load
c) and if it comes to it, when I write an EXE with MEMGraft it can't find custom\mgpatch.mgd
A. The 1.11 version works. I guess they broke something when updating to 1.12. You'll need to use StarGraft and the Import .Pat option in MemGraft.
B. That format was only used before it had it's own editing capabilities.
C. When it asks you to save as an MGD, it needs to be called mgpatch.
Before saving, you need to edit the Misc tab. Change \patch_rt.mpq to \(name of your mpq).mpq. Insert the mgpatch.mgd using custom\ as your file name in your mpq.
Thanks a million! Both of you.
If you're using MemGraft 1.12b, the idea of using MemGraft as an MPQDraft plugin has been abolished.
So what you should do is (I'm writing this off the top of my head, so sorry if it's not accurate):
1. Create a new MemGraft patch by importing your StarGraft PAT into MemGraft 1.12b.
2. Go to the last tab of MemGraft and rename "\patch_rt.mpq" to your mod's MPQ. So, if you're using TerranDoom.MPQ, then you'd change the box to say "\TerranDoom.mpq."
3. Go back to the first tab and hit "Save Release." This will produce your mgd file for you. I recommend you call it something you can remember, like TerranDoom.mgd if you're making a mod called TerranDoom.
4. Save the EXE file...
5. Now for your MPQ, instead of doing the usual and making it from scratch, instead copy Patch_RT.mpq as TerranDoom.mpq (or whatever you're calling your mod), open it up in WinMPQ and copy all your modded files over the top of the files which are already there. Also stick your mgd in as custom\mgpatch.mgd. You need to do this because MemGraft only accepts four MPQ files, and this combines Patch_RT.mpq and your modded MPQ into one MPQ, achieving the same effect as having five MPQs using MPQDraft.
6. When you run the mod, remember to copy your EXE file and your MPQ into the same folder as StarCraft.
That's the general idea... I bet StealthyDeath or someone can elaborate.
Edit: Heh, StealthyDeath got there first.

Maybe Doodle can get it, but I'm kinda stumped by this line:
"instead copy Patch_RT.mpq as TerranDoom.mpq"
... What don't you get?
It means to rename Path_RT.mpq as TerranDoom.mpq
QUOTE
Didn't you already save it as TerranDoom.mpq?
Obviously not, If he is telling you to change the name of it.
QUOTE
Wouldn't copying the patch rt file give you origanal starcraft instead of modded starcraft?
Yes. That is why you copy the Files in the original .MPQ file, Into TerranDoom.mpq
Doh, I forgot to delete that post...
Well anyway, I'm not longer a newb.
I made it so you can create civs at the supply depot.
ignore the question above you (which you will be forced to bc I'm deleting it).
Now if you could kindly turn your attention to the most recent non newbish question I asked...
Rright... I already answered that question. Im still not deleting my post, I deserve it

...
...which is not in this thread. If you need help, post a specific topic. This has gotten too out of hand.
