This is -NOT- a fake! I've started work on tarpit 5. The details are as follows:
Name: Tarpit 5: Special Mini Version
Map Size: 96x96
Terrain: Desert
Features: Not the same HGMA (Hydra Ghosts Marines Archons) anymore. Totally new units like Goliaths, Dragoons etc.
Spell casters are added (most special casting non-heroes will be available to buy)
Way WAY less enemy units to stop unit freeze and lag
It'll be mostly done by me happy.gif
Below is just the map design. I'm starting on the triggers, and it'll take about a month to complete it as I don't have much time closedeyes.gif

If people didn't continously pumping out unoriginal defense maps that we've seen a million times before the n00bs on bnet wouldn't have any maps to play!

Eh, but honestly, tarpit is pretty darn addicting...

Well, unless you're changing the "attacking" units, replacing the old defenders is kinda hard since each of those had their own individual use.

No other ground unit can splash air... so there really is no replacement for archons.

Meh, no idea really..

On a side note, that bunker at the end of tarpit has a guy in it... lolz on his name.

Ya... It says Stop Poking Me! because Duran says that if you click him often... hahax. I'm thinking of Golis, Dragoons, Marines (can't help it) and last one... I'll let you guys decide.

Goliaths will very fast screw up the game for others (Sprite limit with missiles) and if they can't shoot it will be no game, so... it's up to you really

Ok whats so special about tarpit D? What the hell is a tarpit. And why are you making another version? The others were the same like any other defence map.

Your map, your problem. Come back later with a REAL map if you want any help/ideas from me. No self respecting map maker should have any trouble with making a D map, of all things.

Yea espesially a tarpit D. Which i still don't understand what that is. Also asking for the last unit he just doing for fun i bet. Its not that big of a deal but still hes right.

It's not seen as the greatest piece of work, but I completely respect the way that playing it makes people happy.

Sorry to be rude, but if you actually make something good I might give this a little more consideration. Frankly, being a disease to bnet (nude pics and madnesses are also diseases) doesn't constitute a good map. But I appreciate people who try to upgrade the quality of maps played over bnet, so if you pull off a decent, original map, and people actually play it, you have my respect.

I've tested out with 100 Goliaths and 100 Dragoons, and the game doesn't really screw up. But I wonder if people will stop playing once I replace the old units...

Personally, I think Tarpit Defense was 100% gayness. Its just a gayass version of HGMA. To me, it wasn't addicting at all.

One thing I'd like to see from more defenses is a more intuitive design. If a player is missing or drops, don't leave their side to continue spawning. If units start to max out, and attacks no longer fire (forget the exact number needed for that), add some triggers to remove a few enemy units from the map. If other players start moving their stuff on your side, and you don't want them to, add a function to let the player flush them back to their side. And for the love of PETE, when players start get their money units (civs, lings... whatever you use), do NOT let them pile up in one spot trapping other player's money units in between until the player decides to move them (if ever). I can't tell you how frustrating that is.

See, obvious stuff like that would make a world of difference, yet I just never see it happen.
