Outer = range in which 25% damage is applied
Middle = range in which 50% damage is applied
Inner = range in which 100% damage is applied
The ranges are expressed in the normal range units times 16. So, for example, if you give a weapon a splash range of 256, that range will be the same length as the range a weapon with a range 16 (256 / 16) in Arsenal III would have.
I have never really seen great effects made with those X-1, Y-1, X-2, Y-2 boxes. Supposedly they change where a missile is fired from, but I'm not really sure how it works, I haven't seen any obvious effects from it, although it's not like I've really played around with those boxes anyway.
