QUOTE
The truth of existence has appeared only once. Books that date little after the dawn of language. But that was long ago. Wars, religious oppression, and time itself have destroyed the most lingering, bleak precense of these books. What exists today are partial references of scholars vaguely mentioning books about these books, a track so incomplete that no one is aware that they had ever been. The truths of these books are about to be shown, not by writing, but by example.
The world, the universe, is composed of a series of dimensions, of worlds of themselves, which are, simply parts of it. The first three, The Paradise Of God, the Reign Of Man, and The End Of Times, are the physical, things that will happen, have happened, and are happening. The second is all events we experience, an apparently endless place. The first and last are the start and beginning, seperate from Reign so that time may be infinite in the middle. The last three, Of Spirits, Of Gods, and Of Nothing, compose the things unexplainable by any science, but exist none the less. The first contains all spirits of all things, far more then simply humans, who wrongly assume they are the only with the "blessing" of a spirit. Of Gods is the realm, and is, God, a combination of all Gods of man, all that have ever been, all that ever are, a mass of contradicting and negating philosophies that are all true. And the last, which is the place of nothing. it has always been this way, there was no start of this, nor a creation. But now, something has changed. And now, there is a seventh. What it encompasses is unknown... it is simply "The Blue".
Running parallel to the metaphysical story, is that of two boys, one long haired and unfortunately named, Lucifer, the other from a country everyone in this new one seems to hate, Joseph. On their sixteenth birthdays, which happen simultaneously, they must perform the ritual of the town they live in, they must leave, and travel continously away, surviving as many days as they can, trying to walk farther awa, along a path carved by the feet of perhaps three hundred boys. While part taking on this trivial qust to prove their manhood to their abusers, their fellow children, they encounter the only true conflict, one out of the contained and predictable world of time.
This RPG will use an actual battle system, the method of which has yet to be decided. There will be extended terrain, and most likely some new extended terrain. There will be a variety of side quests, but you will be required to follow the main story. This is exactly the first of a series of maps, the sequels surrounding the journey through the seperate worlds. It is a two player game. Right now there are two screenshots available:

I really like the isometric use of the traps. Good job Thereotical Human!

This looks great and I'm definitely looking forward to it. The plot is something never seen before, and has a intriguing meaning behind it. It kind of also deals with this religious/universe issues which I'm just really unexperienced about, but something you know a lot of.

Good luck wink.gif

One thing I hope to do with this is to do more then just a story at the mission briefings. I feel really cheated when an "RPG" is just "Go do dis n dat, omg lol deh kild ur parnts kay gu kil deh ebil".

wow that very interesting, and very deep.

a little to deep for my 13 y/o brain, but very good.

the thing i love the most as Screwed said, is the buildings with the traps.

AWESOME idea happy.gif

That looks really cool, I'm trying to scab different things from RPGs and other games, JKing. kewlpics.gif But do you give me permission to use the wall style that you used in the kewlpics.gif , if you do I will give you credit.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-11 at 07:42:27
You don't need to give me credit. I don't really mind. Someone would've figured out that a unit called a "wall trap" might make a good wall. You can use it, I don't care. I'm not concerned with being acknowledged, I just enjoy finding out that there are ways to do certain things. Now, one thing if you're going to use floor traps as tiles: Move location and preplacing units will, for some reason beyond me, not work. I'm going to test a drop ship system, you might want to check back on this thread in a bit.

Ohkay thanks.

Hey if you need any help with making the map i might be able to help. Especially triggers and that kind of stuff.

Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-11 at 16:18:09
I'm going to place a cloaked unit on top of the places they're not supposed to go.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ultimo on 2005-06-11 at 16:19:57
I hope you don't plan on using that type of "trap terrain" throughout the map if this is 256x256.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ThunderRaiden on 2005-06-11 at 16:26:31
Seems like it wont take u long to past the 1000 unit cap....
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-11 at 18:17:06
The unit cap is not 1000, the last time I checked. I am not going to use traps so liberally, this is the only town featuring more then two buildings made of traps. If the count becomes too high, I will remove the path. Presumably there'll be about 500 units when it's finished.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Screwed on 2005-06-11 at 18:19:50
Instead of units you can try using sprites. Although try limiting the use of it too.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by FrAZ428 on 2005-06-11 at 19:39:25
I just now Noticed how you made those buildings. I was wondering about it.. but didn't say anything. Genius design using traps. Absolutely incredible. This only makes me a little bit more anxious to play this map.

Again, can't wait for it to come out! -fraz

If there are too many traps, units, or anything that adds to sprite or unit count.. be careful.. Players love smooth games, not laggy.. smile.gif

noooo. sprites will cover up things that walk "over" them.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Screwed on 2005-06-11 at 22:50:53
Use them for roofs.

Me too. Besides, who seems to have originally concieved of this idea? Exactly.

Wow i like the terrain. Like it really shows what your doing. I would hoe to see a version of this. But i really don't understand it. You wrote a lot and i'm really tired. So i don't really knwow what the map is about. But it looks cool.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-13 at 05:45:50
You don't understand it because you didn't read what I wrote? Well, that's possibly one of the most blatantly obvious things I've ever read. Yeah, and 1+1=2, the sky is blue, c-a-t spells cat. Don't post here again until you've read the story, otherwise your feedback is worthless.

Time for some critisizm...

-The buildings look kinda small compared to civilians...
-Does this game take place in the Future, Present, Or Past?
-The storyline is VERY Original 10/10
-Jungle Or Badlands?

Are the 2 guys walking away because they are forced to. Is it a trial. Or are they like the chosen ones that will finaly make it farther than anyone else has?

BTW Directed to Snipe: terrain doesn't mean anything... unless you have triggers to back it up...
