My idea is to have a 128x128 map with an Xel Naga temple at the bottom (this is a Jungle Worlds map btw) with walls surronding a large space infront of the temple that forms the base for the player. At the top will be the computers - one terran, zerg, and protoss. The comps will have respawning units thats sole objective is to destroy the temple. The players are meant to defend it.
I've been told by my friend that theres a map for original SC and BW thats exactly like my idea. Is this true?
There are plenty of maps where you have a base and something to defend. We generally call these "hero maps". These would include things like Last Dawn (***made by me, one of my best maps

), Digimon "RPG"s, Defend the Temple (regular protoss temple, not a Xel Naga) etc. There are other maps such as Crash "RPG" or Xmen "RPG", but the base is invincible in those.
Ah, well, I'm glad no one will accuss me of stealing someone else's ideas then. -_-
Its still not technically an orginal idea. You should consider adding something that makes it unique. Spells? Computer allie? things like that to make it different.
Yeah adding in a spell, item, or other unique system would make the game more favorable on b.net... BTW Mike, gj on links and affiliates... looks uber!
the key to a good map is
simple for beginners
but in the end very complex
adding nice touches that makes the users go "Wow!"w00t, thats useful and neat looking. these are major ++s in a map, the kind of stuff i looked for when i was testing.
