We should pay attention to gas and mineral placement more when creating maps (at least if it is for any type of competetive gaming). I did not know that, did you?

I thought that it was only for slanted gas nodes, not top and right ones lol. I guess it only affects mains and nats since all others can be taken by anyone, but it's best to try and place them all the same I guess. ermm.gif

But now that I think about it, how come pro-map makers haven't noticed it? Or maybe it doesn't really affect mining too much to make a difference.

There's a concept happy.gif

One way you could know is to have an experiment closedeyes.gif . time yourself and see how many minerals you got for all four placments. That would be the only way to tell.

it is quite interesting though... interested.gif

It's the same issue that comes up with ramps/chokes. If it takes you longer to get to your choke than normal, you might not be able to wall it off in time to stop a rush. Timing is one of the most time-consuming parts to making a balanced map.

IMO.

If the vespene geyser is one tile further then you need 4 for max efficiency, and I personally couldn't adapt to that, I don't think moving geyers would benefit or change the game much though...
