This is a classic scenario, they want you to join, so you can spread the word. You will recieve the bonuses if you do spread the word, but if you don't they will end up getting you like record coupons.
It's all about whether you can put the blame on other people. Same thing with those free ipod commercials, you can get a free ipod but you have to advertise the site and get other poeple to sign up, then they have to do it to someone else.
I've always wanted to do a scam where you sign someone else up then they sign you up again. You just create more and more accounts, and keep on getting free stuff. Oh well...

Yeah, I'm beginning to think that now as well. It smells suspicious and I'm going to wait a while before getting deeply involved there.

Where does it say that is a confirmed scam? Although I am pretty sure that it is.

We strive to give consumers choices about how their data will be used. You have the right to opt-out of GreenZap’s membership at any time.

Essentially, they withold the right to disclose your personal information to any third party as long as you are a member.

Notice they want your phone number, and many other things. Even if their money-transaction was 100% legit, it could all be a scam to sell your information to other companies.

First of all, why can't I find ANY information about GreenZap at any of their merchant's sites?

Second of all, a few merchants have been removed over a short period of time. It might have something to do with this:

Dear XXXX,

I am glad to see that you’re so excited to get started with the new Overstock Auctions site!
We’ve had an overwhelming response so far, and there aren’t any signs of letting up!
I appreciate the opportunity to answer your question concerning Greenzap.

Currently Overstock.com Auction has no relationship with this company and we have requested
our Logo be removed from there site. We don’t suggest you using this company at this time
due to no real established track record or contract with our company.

Regardless of all that, the 'company' has no address or phone number for which you can contact them at. GEOTrust seems to not recognize them (I just noticed the newly added GEOTrust image). It's already been confirmed that you can view almost any accounts information by cookie manipulation (I'm not going to detail how or show the link).

Here is a site with more information: http://retroject.org/zaptruth/

ADDITION:
They completely removed the merchants image now. I can't wait till the site is completely shut down.
