1. Get a program called ResHacker and open the staredit.exe with it.
2. Select Bitmap from the side menu > 203 > 1033
3. From the menu select Action > Replace Bitmap...
4. Browse for the image you want and then replace 203.

When you save it, It should make a copy of the original, Called Original_Staredit.exe.

The Original is the one before you edited it, The one that sais nothing except Staredit.exe, Is the one you edited. So you can take the edited Staredit.exe and put it somewhere else, Then rename the file called Original_Staredit.exe to Staredit.exe, And it should be changed the next time you open Staredit.exe.

Then you would drag the Staredit.exe (The one you edited) Into the MPQ file you have.

The extension won't be anything, Just drag it into your MPQ, And press okay.. Without typing anything.

Where do you find ResHacker? Google it? biggrin.gif

ADDITION:
Would ResHacker happen to be "Resource Hacker"?

EDIT Bah, that even confused me. (What I put...)

Edit Staredit.exe (it automatically makes "original_staredit.exe"). When you use MPQDraft to create stand alone, you go to staredit.exe and it will keep what you edited.

Here, I added the .ZIP containing ResHacker. ResHacker can also alter .DLL files. If you wanted to alter Starcraft's .DLL files.

Using MPQDraft you would select the modified staredit.exe by browsing for it. If you give out the mod the person must have both the staredit.exe and your mod.

Another way is you can use modified staredit.exe and your mods MPQ, but you need to edit which mpq the new staredit.exe will use. It can be done with StarExeHack which is the same method SCXE uses.

Placing the new staredit.exe into the MPQ is pointless besides having a much larger MPQ.
