well, I'm just finishing the terrain on my rpg atm, and it's freakalishously hard. I couldn't make the huge stairway any less blocky so if you guys want to help me on it, just ask and i'll give you a file with the terrain you requested

I would like to see a full size of this image. Any1 can make a map look good from the minimap or resized to really small. I need to see if it's blocky or not.

Well, my suggestions are pretty simple: before you start an extended piece, map it out in ISOM terrain first. Secondly, don't use Starforge for Isom, use SCMDraft 2 or SCXE. I can see what you were trying to do, it's quite good in that aspect, but it's rather ugly in the finished result. I can clean it up a bit if you give me the map, (I'm not going to steal it, I never ask for credit for the various concepts I make).
sounds good. But i won't post my real map due to "other" people, so i'll jsut post that huge ass part of terrain down (it's acutally really big) so people are free to download and edit that as they like

Well I cant do terrain properly because my map got buggy. I tried deleting all the units but.. It didnt work. So i can really only use starforge becasue it can create custom brushes and paste them from diff maps and stuff. The isom gets way too blocky and Sf can only make glitchy blocked, isoms. the other editors dont have the custom paste brush thing so im stuck with

Sf isnt that bad tho....

The Terrain Concept is quite good, I've never seen anyone attempt to make a staircase like that. It's still very blocky and needs some more work on it.
I'd suggest eliminating those trees first, it looks way to uniform.
When using tree sprites, try not to use the same exact one, and make it more 'random' (Like BeeR said) (Not all in a straight line).
For the waterfall, it's good, but the eldfire.grp always seems to make it look better.
Good idea, wonderful parts, but needs to be touched up and a little randomness added. It looks way too uniform, like BeeR said.
Actually even with the blockyness it looks ok.

wowa actually good replies! I couldn't find a way to touch up the blockiness because of the way the stairs actually are, that's why I got the map download file so you guys can try to find a way around where i couldnt

I'll try to use different tree sprites to make it look better and stuff~ I 'm also thinking of adding in another waterfall right next to the first one too because it wouldnt make sense if it's that high up and thne suddently it's normal level again on the water.
The things I can see is blocky terrain with very abnormal vizualisation.. You can do better, you just have to work to make it.

. Ive actually worked over 2 hours on that peice of terrain. It's actually really frigging big too.In teh 64x64 map, it uses a quarter of the terrain. I'm still improving upon it and I know its freakin blocky, and ive been trying to fix that, but i cant find any terrain blocks that match the staircase and the water. So if you can improve upon it, please do, and post it back here. It would be much appreciated and i would add you into my credits for my rpg.
Looks cool. A bit blocky yes. But over-all: 4/10.

I know it's not quite what you wanted, but I did a partial version of what you made (I made it from scratch). I was too lazy to do some parts, but I think that I eliminated some blockiness from yours.

anyways, I changed the blocks used and took out all the tree sprites. This shoudl kidna give oyu an idea of what I'm making

This piece of work is very sloppy. You need to put a lot more effort next time and possibly edit this current piece. This is the blockiest thing I have seen in a long time and not even the sprites cover it up.
You need

Put a shadow on the big stair part... or, it looks like it's all on the ground... use cloaked Science Facilities or Barracks...
Oh, I'm sorry lol I hvaen't updated teh posts for a long time. Anyways, wait for a bit and I'll post up the pretty much finished product. (it looks nothing like the one in the screeny just then) That was really blocky, but it was just to give an idea of what it was supposed to be.

its good but i dont like the waterfall on the right, like where the hallucinated units die. i dont think you should use that effect for such a small drop.
but its good anyway, even if it is blocky.
try using some bush sprites, or even using tech sprites could be used (ie: Dirt - strange orb)
hope fully youll fix it, but i think you could leave it a little bit blocky if you wanted.. like a little bit wont matter to much.
just wanted to let u know i like the stairs, and it just gave me some great idea's for some terrian

Its a bit blocky. Otherwise I think it's awesome.
