Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Twilight Train Trcks
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-25 at 16:49:34
The project I had started, The Blue, was another one with no real momentum after the first five minutes. I rarely did anything with it, and I barely got anywhere with the story. I'm sorry, but it's another failed attempt to make a map. I'm currently thinking up a twilight map, which should get it's own production thread shortly, if I can get someone to help me keep focused. Well, here's a double layer track, not sure how I'll do the train yet. Also, of the units you can cloak and get a shadow, which is the smallest?

You're going to have to use air units for the train, but that mountain, and well, the whole thing is really nice. Good job. smile.gif

It doesn't matter how blocky it is, that mountain and traintrack is awesome.

You've been having a ton of cool ideas lately, TH.

of the units you can cloak

I think he was referring to the units that have the ablility to cloak, not units that can be cloaked by an Arbiter. I think that the Ghost would be the smallest. If that's that case your asking about Theoretical_Human

I need the smallest shadow while the unit is not visible.

Bunker/supply depot/ cannon Cannon would probably work best.. They are big units but have a really small shadow if you just want a small shadow.

niiiiiice terrain, the sence that the bottom part is lower kinda doesnt work when u look at the bottom part, but its still really good, i especially liked the entrance into the mountain...

That's amazing, reminds me of Star Wars.

Is it just for scenary or do you think both levels could be walkable?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-26 at 02:52:12
Bottom layer is decorative. Top layer is for a train to run over, an important little event. I'm sure both are, or could easily be made, walkable. But who would walk on train tracks?

Probely someone who is suicidal...

Anyway, I really LOVE the mountain, if it where just the train, I wouldnt be so exited.

It's new but it's blocky, that's all I can say, work with the mountain

It's awesome. For the train you could use valkyries. They remind me of a train somehow tongue.gif

Wow, thats some bad ass terrain, can you actually put units on the lower part of the bridge?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Neiji on 2005-06-26 at 22:35:13
Lol, right when I saw the word "twilight" I knew it was you... I don't know why (sarcasm sarcasm)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2005-06-26 at 23:19:53
idk why but to me it looks like a tunnel that youd drive cars through not trains. i wonder if there is a way with sprites to make actual tracks. i really like it though you have very creative ideas.

There is some slight bloackage on the mountain and the on the right side of thr train tracks when it touches the mountain- try some cover-up with sprites.

I was inspired to make one for badlands, but it's not as good. But atleast now we have a train bridge for twilight and badlands!! w00t.gif

Triggamasta, thats awesome. I like the tracks!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-27 at 18:55:04
The problem: That uses a good two hundred sprites for the tracks. I have an idea. How about disable doors? They make a nice line.

Even better lol, i was just bored and played with sprites... I have interceptors for trains and civs so you can walk around and train kills you when it hits you it's pretty entertaining for me.
