This is my first time ever even thinking about creating a map, I know nothing and am seeking a professional map maker out there for some patience to teach me?

Any help would be appreciated.

You are being too broad. Look in the staredit help file. Learn about the different layers, the trigger functions and usage of different windows. Also understand the game itself very well. After that, when you have specific problems you can come back. The entire 'map making' is too big to teach someone in one post.

Also make sure you download the right tools in the DLDB.

He has a point, but I believe I can spare some time to help you.
Download these:
SCMDraft
X-tra Editor
Uberation (for protection)
MSSDFMT.DLL (for Uberation)
1.)SCMDraft is good for final touches on a map, since it doesn't have triggers, and can do things other maps cannot, so if you use it before using X-tra Editor, some things will be deleted. It's also good for terrain.
2.)X-tra Editor has five different modes, each that does something different. I reccomend using Alternative Mode, but you can learn more from the readme.
3.)Uberation is used for protecting your maps so other people can't open them and put their name on it (known as "map stealing").
4.)MSSTDFMT.DLL is for Uberation, but it's not in the download file.
a.) Download MSSTDFMT.DLL
b.) Put it in your Windows System Directory.
c.) Press 'Start', then 'Run...'
d.) Enter "regsvr32.exe msstdfmt.dll"
The biggest things are knowing Starcraft like the back of your hand, and knowing how the triggers work, for each I reccomend the Starcraft Official Strategy Guide. Although you can probably find a better walkthrough elsewhere if you don't already own a copy of it.

Hope this helped.

If you download the latest SCMDraft it comes with the TrigEdit plug-in, DaMiNaToR. But it's much more complex to figure out compared to X-tra Editor.

Edit: Spelling. closedeyes.gif

I hardly think that anyone who's completely new to mapmaking needs anything other than StarEdit to make their first map...

TrigEdit BLOWS!!! You have to use correct spelling, and know the commands by heart! If you spell one word wrong, the trigger won't work!

That's why you need a good memory to remember lots of functions and strings. It owns all other editors at making mass triggers.

Look up some tutorials here on Staredit and if you wanna know what every trigger does go to SCindex.com and in the navagation ull see some on what the triggers do like Triggers Condition, Triggers Action.
