To me, I think the most commonly used SC unit in many UMS maps are civilians. What do you guys think?

I would go with um map revealers? Mostly for like nonrpgs or something.

Probably zerglings... they're the primary unit in most bounds. They're also in a lot of RPG's and what not, but civs are used a lot too.

LOL, but i know what beats that: Starting Locations biggrin.gif

I think civilians for RPGs. Zerglings for bound and obstacle maps.

I would have to say Zerglings are mostly used. They are pretty usefull, bounds small and fast. Good kind of blood for effects. Other units after that are Civilians and marines. A lot of people in the terrain forum that need units to test their terrain are marines.

Placeable/Clickable/Useable:
Civilian (They are even used in bounds for bannage and stuff biggrin.gif)
then would come Zergling

In triggers (Xplos n stuff)
Archon.

I think Overlords are used more. Look at Bound Tourney and Chinese Bound and those kinds of bounds.

most used would ahve to be civs i say.... like you did.

hmm, least used would probably be broodlings.

Yes, Zerglings. 75% of UMS maps made are bounds... there are tens of thousands of them. They are used in 98% of bounds, and also in other types of obstacle maps. Not to mention they are the most common basic enemy in an RPG and people like to use them as basic units in madnesses. GG, Zergling wins. closedeyes.gif

Zerglings, surely.

*cough* *ahem*

Least used would definitely not be Broodling. It's used plenty in Bounds, it used to be a common Rpg enemy, it's often a unit in madnesses, and it's a popular unit for low-level summons in Rpg's.

Least used would probably be Yggdrasil or something like that.

Marines, defitnely.
Jail Break has marines as guards.
Bound & Control has rines.

it would either be,
A Zergling because people use them or Devouring One in bounds.
A Marine because in an RPG you are most likely to have War games and such.

I think observer explosions are used the most in any bounds. Not only bounds, but several other maps as well.

To make things a bit more simple to see which would be the least used unit in UMS maps lets make it so there are no crashing units and they have to be clickable and or visable. I reckon it would be magellen or a unit that doesnt have any attack and flies.

Zergling and civs are most commonly used. U always use civs in rpg's and zerglings in rpg and bound

Notice he asks the most "commonly" used. I think Millenium is asking the "frequency" the unit is used in maps, not the amount. For example, not "Oh this mass game has a bazillion lings so lings obviously", but "this unit appears in 90% of maps so it's this one".

Let us figure out which unit is used the most frequent:
1) The types of maps are: bounds, madnesses, golems (limited madness), general defenses, specific unit defenses, AAGs (Action/Adventure games), team attacks, and miscellaneous.
a. Now, since general defenses and specific unit defenses usually have all units in the game (as defender or level unit), we can cross them off our list. This goes the same for LoTr games.

2) Our list: Bounds, madnesses, golems, AAGs, team attacks (non lotr), and miscellanious.

The obvious ones are: civilians, zerglings, and marines.

Well, hmm...definately lings for unit. And probably Engineering bay for buildings.
