Staredit Network -> Website Feedback, Bugs & Discussion -> "fast reply"ing lowers post count
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-06-26 at 15:58:22
why is this?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Season on 2005-06-26 at 16:18:02
Probally because you don't take the time to click ADD REPLY.

Or it is just another Invision bug.

short post on fast reply

Posting fast reply does not lower your post count. Case closed.

I always use Fast Reply. I don't think that it lowers your post count, I think it just has to be a certain length.

The only two things that can lower your post count is you deleting your posts or a moderator deleting your posts/fining your post count (yes they can do that now O_0)

Same here, so that ensures that Fast Reply adds to post count. tongue.gif

Also, fast reply is not a method of replying. All it does is open up the reply form on the same page. Add reply and fast reply are both replies, therefore neither decrease post count.

Your posts have to be a certain length, however, to be added to your post count. And remember, you also must post in a forum that increases minerals and post count.

Increases: user posted image
Doesn't: user posted image

It cannot decrease post count. You can either gain, or have no effect. If you're losing post count, its due to some moderator action. But, ihatett, your logs are clear, so that isn't even a possibility for you.

Crap, but it's only true when you post additions. I think I know why, too. The anti-double post script deletes the post, which does -1 post count and -16 minerals, then adds for the 'addition' post amount. If the addition doesn't restore the post count, then your count goes down. I think..

Okay, I get how it works. If you double-post and you second post would normally get you 0 post count increase, then your post count goes down one. This only occurs in forums that increment post count in the first place.

Purely out of curiosity, could you explain that more? If your post count increases by 0, why does it go down by 1?

Thanks. tongue.gif

IF
  • You are posting in a forum that raises your post count
  • You are double-posting a post that results as an ADDITION to the last post
  • Your ADDITION post is 50 characters or less

Then your post count decreases 1.

Why?

The script to stop double posting first deletes your new post. This makes your post count go down 1 and minerals down 16. Then it adds your post to the original post and adds minerals/post count as you should receive in the forum. For a <50 char post, you receive 0 post count and 2? minerals so your net post count is -1 and your net minerals are -14.

MORAL: Don't double-post.

This bug has nothing to do with using Fast Reply.

Thanks.

So you shouldn't use fast reply as an editing feature to add something to the end of your post?

Not counting tonight where I chopped off like 150 posts, I have probably lost 200 posts this way. tongue.gif.

Bummer, why dont the mods use their mod powers to mod your post count back a little?

ADDITION BY EDIT:
Is that possible?

Yes, you can fine people negative minerals and post counts. BeeR fined me -1 minerals when I was trying to screenshot that I had 666 tongue.gif

Just use the EDIT button, not the ADD REPLY or FAST REPLY buttons if you want to add on to your post.

Son of a bitch. It happened to me and I just assumed my a post of mine was deleted in some topic I forgot about.
That's gay, I used to use plenty of short addon posts.

Ugh, wait, in garbage.

Whatever, this still sucks.

Can't globals screw with your post count? And besides thats na admin cp option, you don't to to go out and screw around with the database. I would expect you to be more knowledgeable at such things. happy.gif
