I was thinking about the theory that if you travel at the speed of light, time stops. Now, does this mean it stopslike in movies, where you can move but nobody else, or time really just... stops?
Either way I think I can disprove it. If light were moving at the speed of light (like it always does), wouldn't time stop for that particle of light? And all the other particles? That means that we would never see the light particles given that they ricochette and disperse before we every have time to see it.
If it really does just stop, then, um... How is it possible for me to be typing this?
Plus, if going faster than the speed of light makes you go backwards in time, but time stops at the speed of light, how would you get past the speed of light at all? No matter how fast you accelerate, there will be one moment where you hit the speed of light a freeze in time. Thus, you are never given the chance to go any faster, or back through time.
Your taking this to literally. We dont stop, but its like time stops... Like, if i traveled at the speed of light right now, its like it didnt even happen! Because I was at an even speed with time!
Well, if you were travelling at the speed of light and stuff still happened in your spaceship (or whatever), wouldn't you age a bit and the time your travelling even with not? It's the other way around from what I can recall, astronauts going, like, mach 20, age slower than, say, their twin. I remember a study or something on that...
No, you wouldnt age! Time isnt moving! As long as your at the speed of light.
So...
That mean YOU couldn't move and would never be able to hit the 'decellerate' button? If you hit the speed of light you virtually cease to exist?
No, everything doesnt stop!! Jesus, get it through your head! Time stops!
So it's 5:30. Im cruising space, and i decide to click the LIGHT SPEED button. Then i travel around the earth 90 times (Well, if I had infinite gas!) and then stop, itd still be 5:30, becuase im just moving so fast.
Lets say theres a fly on your computer screen! Somehow it goes lightspeed accross the room! So it just disapears and appears on the otherside of the room instantly!
Okay! Look! If you can still move, you're internal organs are still up and running, meaning YOU AGE!
no you dont age for your environment time has stopped but time is still happening outside of the environment (out of the spaceship) so if 15 years passed nothing in your environment would change your still as young as you were when you started but everybody else would have aged; its one of those physics things with math and stuff very complicated.

ironiclly, light doesnt actually travel at "the speed of light", lol, i know how funny that sounds but instead when they talk about "the speed of light" there talking about the speed of light in an absolute vacum, or frictionless environment, i.e. somethig that doesnt exist.
huh? I wonder how they can determine that...on second thought nvm too much math probably. So what shapechanger is saying is somewhat true?IF light was moving at the speed of light?
it might be true, idk, never looked into it. but a complete vacum is impossible too, so not much use looking into it...

I don't reall tihnk Time stops per say... I think that you kinda Bend time. What i mean is that i don't think if you go the speed of Light i will Freeze or anything. I think I would Age quicker but i still think its weird. Like i don't think it is possible and it really bothers me thinking about it. If it were possible i would find it scary but you know. Its all good.
If only Timmy was in here, he could explain what i'm about to say.
If you travel at "the speed of light", you're moving so fast, that time cannot affect you; Therefor, your body doesn't age as fast as it would if you were not travelling "the speed of light"
It's not that hard to understand that if you move really, really, really **cking fast, you will not age as fast, like everyone else.
kellemus, your body ages less if your moving at any speed faster then normal... for instance somone sitting on a bus moven is techincally ageing less then someone sitting in a chair at home, but for low speeds this difference in age is very very very very very small.
i wish i could go speed of light though. it would be crazy. I would hit people in hte face really fast is they pissed me off. That would hurt a lot but they would suck it up lol. I'm sure that speed of light is imposible for a human to go. Unless you can prove otherwise.
what some people here say is weird if were able going lightspeed what would u go on? and if im right ure speed has to increase doesnt it? and anyway meteors would break yur craft . back 2 increasin gspeed. if yur bspeed increase 2 quickly u wont see anything passing by would u? and chances are yur craft will be peeled apart because of the speed.

if you did go at the speed of light as a human you would probably died from exhaustion or starvation since the amount of energy used is humongous.
sometimes ill be thinking about something and ill just stop. i wont move or breath. like if im thinking of something and im tying my shoe ill stop and wont do nothing. idk but with my breathing I have real problems im guessing. like my dad'll wake up and he'll come to my room and try and wake me up but he says im not breathing.. idk y but it happends.
