About how many seconds of sound can you have in your map before the download becomes so long that people quit because they don't feel like waiting?

It depends on your internet connection, and about 2MB.

And what does this have to do with Map Making Assistance?

It has to do with map making assistance because I asked a question about making a map.

Thanks for the answer though. (I'm not being sarcastic or anything like that).

You didnt really ask a question about making a map, just that you wanted to know how many seconds of sound could you have without having people to wait and leave on B.net. But yeah my answer was just a guess, most people dont wait no more than one minute for them to download a map. But thats just them

So if the amount of sound you put in your map isn't map making, what is it, and what forum should I have posted it in?

There is no set amount of time your sounds can be. Just test it. Put in some sounds, protect it and all, and then host it on Battle.net and see if people will stay to download it. You can always remove sounds right?

It takes me about five seconds to download a 50kb map over b.net using my laggy broadband connection. 250kb maps are already large by b.net standards (because most maps played on b.net are quite simple and don't include sounds).

But the download speed depends on the speed of connection between the downloader and the 'map-giver'. If either one has a slow connection, then the download will be slow. Also the download will probably be slower over b.net than if you simply download the map from a website like SEN, so if you have a very large file, you may want to get people to download it from SEN rather than over b.net.

The size of a .wav file varies according to its quality as well as its length. You can change the format of a .wav file using Windows Sound Recorder: Compressing WAVs - http://www.staredit.net/index.php?tutorial=3.

Legacy I am not trying to act like a Administrator/Moderator, I was just telling him what all of this has to do with Map Making Assistance. That's all.

Atreyu) there is not going to and never will be a fight over something like this, so I am thinking that your post was......Spam.

Anyways I think that this topic is done then. confused.gif
