This topic ought to be quite interesting...

Let's get a poll going on how many people believe in Heaven/Hell...

Please describe what heaven and/or hell will be like...plz...feel free to use your imagination (will there be animals, aliens, etc.)

What are their locations? (Outer space, deep within the centers of the earth, etc.)

Finally, what do you have to do or not do to get into either place?

And for those that don't believe in either, then share with the rest of us what you believe happens when you die...if anything at all.

Based on accepting Jesus, Hell.

Based on doing good stuff/not doing bad stuff...Hell if superficials are bad, but I haven't killed or anything.

Don't honestly believe in either. I figure we just rot in the ground and it's over. Maybe our life force detaches and roams the earth as quiet observers, scaring little children in the middle of the night as we become slightly tangible.

I'd think Heaven and Hell would function more as alternate dimensions than locations in this one. It makes more sense that way than to be able to accidently stumble upon the lake of fire or whatever.

My problem with the concept of heaven/hell is that they'd have to be personal. There's that Calvin & Hobbes strip where Calvin ponders whether you get to be bad in heaven. I mean, do naughty but essentially good people get to live in a naughty heaven? Or do you go to hell if you're naughty anyway, and "good" people are boring and just walk around on clouds not sinning or anything.

Heaven = Paradise
Hell = Eternal torture in the lake of burning sulfur

Chill dude, use UR brain, naughty and good are vague terms and are usually user defined, my friend. The D.C. sniper thought he was a good person (listen to his testimony in court) David Berkowitz thought he was a good person because he was God's 'right hand' man and was killing ppl that he thought God wanted dead. So, lemme ask you...if i kill somebody today and then save my best friend's life tomorrow by taking a bullet to my chest....hmmm...Now, would i be considered a "good" person or a "naughty" person...Now, use UR brain!

Yeah, Snake, its all based on the person. That's why in most AP history classes they teach you to define your terms. You could sympathize with the South in the Civil War and say their cause was good while everyone around you thinks otherwise. But alas you still think their cause was good.


I personally don't believe in either Heaven or Hell. Bullshit aside, I'd of course choose Heaven. Who wouldn't (excluding sadists, masochists, and the like)? No matter what religion you are bound to, "Hell" has been manifested in your imaginaion thanks to literature, society, and pop-culture using "Hell" in many situations. If you're a Taoist who enjoys Anne Rice's vampire novels, you have a vision of Anne Rice's "Hell." If you're a buddhist who likes "South Park," then you've had a vision of Matt Stone's and Trey Parker's "Hell." No matter who you are or what you believe in, I think that you still question the existence of some afterlife. And that's how I am. I'm an agnostic and I hate organized religion, but still I think about the possibility of a Heaven and Hell. And if they exist, I'd rather sit on a cloud than be needlessly tortured. Then again, Heaven could be dull so existing in Heaven would be torture in its own right, while Hell could be a massive fun rave. And I have no way of knowing...

Heaven : Your own Universe, in which you act as a God; complete control over the happenings.

Hell : Eternal nothingness. Pain, you will get used to. Boredom may not sound like horrible torture, but give it a few millenia, and you won't even know what, well, anything is. You'd effectively turn into a thoughtless shell.

Personally, I believe that death is the end. Bye-bye, never see you again.
Otherwise, you'll return to the giant arcade of the sky(not literally 'sky'), in which you'll chat with your buddies about how fun or boring this game was.

A life with no hope of an after life explains short term thinking rather than eternal thinking. That state of mind can wreak havoc on an individual.

Personally, i'll stick with the thought of heaven and hell...at least there is some sort of hope.

Based on my actions right now, I will go to heaven. But our life is not voer yet so we can't determine where were going yet.

I hope that there is an afterlife, a pleasant one, but I don't expect one.
If there is only Hell for an afterlife(any form of Hell)- which is a possibility- I'd rather have nothing, and I don't fear nothing.

"Naughty" involves some stuff in Leviticus. "Bad" involves breaking 10 commandments.

In a nutshell. Basically I'd throw "bad" onto murder, rape, etc. Violent stuff, nomsain? "Naughty" is stuff that's bad according to scripture, but I have a hard time finding a real justification for that, not actually believing scripture. The bible and me agree on killing, but not on sex.

But I'm a firm believer people love to bullshit themselves. The whole god thing is a nice way to deal with stress....sometimes.

Personlly i don't belive in hell. I belive that Earth is hell. IF you think about it, it would be really F*ed up if there was a devlin. I think Earth is like Hell because you Experience everything that can be done in hell. For example. Pain,Hated,Abuse,Metal Abuse. Everything bad. I belive there is a Heaven. I belive there is a nicer place that we go to when we die. See i like to think this. Or Earth is the end. You can feel everything you can in heavan on earth as well. Love, Glory, To feel Free and good. Earth could be them combined but i think hell is non Exsisting other than for on earth in its own Form and heavan is everywhere and could be a place.

Geez, the fire and everything is symbolic. Burning pain is physical. Your soul experiences mental pain, like "why didn't I choose God?"
Hell is separation from God... you choose to believe him or not...

I hope there is heaven and hell, but i dont believe there is. If there was both the world would be much more interesting, wouldnt u agree? And to decide where i go, if god can read my mind then hell and if he can't heaven for sure .

i think hell wouldnt be like some people think like underground with lots of fire maybe lava and perish the thought of flying dead screaming im a little dead guy short and stout here is my spirit here is my body. None of that i imagine it will be like a DARK place lots of blood everywhere and people working so jesus is happy!
Heaven reminds me a bit like hell except DArk not light. and people dont work they have fun and when threyre promoted 2 full grown angels they start singing and fly away \

well i see your very SteroTypical. This is what hell was made out to be. This si what everyone thinks it is. Well not everyone but the people who just don't think . I like your oppionion though. The fact you have 1 is good.

At this point in my life I would go to heaven. Of course, it is always too soon to tell.

Heaven: A holy kingdom of God. Streets paved with gold and silver(as described in the Bible) and eternal rest where nothing gets you "down".

Hell: Exact opposite. Hell is not located in a tangible area.(i.e. up, down, left, right) Hell is a mental area where you are tormented day and night. You experience both physical and mental pain(if I remember correctly...).

You forget that Hell is not even part of the original biblical tradition and does not exist in Judaism, a supposedly evil and wicked religion because it doesn't have eternal punishment and suffering for meager crimes of this world, all of which are ultimately caused by the fact that all actions of humans are driven by gaining pleasure or avoiding displeasure, there is no way around that. You do things that "need" to be done, bills, work, because you don't want to have your power shut off or the income of money to stop, because those things can give pleasure. A murderer kills because he gains pleasure from it, a rapist rapes because he gains pleasure from the control of it. Thusly, all actions of humans are trivial, and Hell is a needless thing.

The only difference between christianity and judaism is that christians believe in Jesus Christ. Other than that, they're pretty much alike in every aspect.

I don't believe in heaven/hell. I'm not a "gothic" person, but I just have way different beliefs. When you die, its Game over man.. game over.. having theories as to going to heaven just make people to think its good to die.. and to go to a good place..but you better not commit crimes! Or you'll go to hell!

I think the government created all this crap... Jk.. but seriously..
