Starting over?
When scrolling and reading through my older post, I found a fatal flaw in my storyline. It troubled me, because my map was also copying a main idea in The Of Legend of Zelda, Majora's Mask. I thought this over a lot, and decided to just make myself a new and better storyline. My old one was a script version of an old Text-based RP I and some friends were doing, but since I need a new one, I'm not going to do it like that. If you would like to check the old thread, it's in my sig. I hope you enjoy my new storyline and enjoy the new features I will be adding to the map. This Production thread is going to own the old one. happy.gif

Storyline

Side note: I gave some of my characters new names.

Prologue
In the world of Kirising, is the country of Gielenor. Once a beautiful place, it is now home to the corrupted Empire. Their king, Daramos, the Dark Lord, has been ruling for many years. This Daramos is not human, not a being of our world, as most say. His eternal life and unstoppable force make him such a menace, no one would dare to stand in his way. Outsiders from around Kirising have stood before the Lord, but only perished in pain. Most of the cities remained secluded from the outside world in the shadows, while large cities and center of trades stayed open. This kingdom was known from then on as the Kingdom of Sorrows.

---

Thredes was a young son of a farmer from Yushuta, a small farming and fishing community. He had longed to be out in the wilds, to live a life of his own. But his dreams were destroyed when men of Daramos's army destroyed their lovely village in order to gain the land for other purposes; those purposes not even known to the soldiers themselves. In the raid, Thredes's father was killed defending his village. While running he was knocked unconscious by one of the soldiers. He awoke in a dark jail cell with little light with two others around him.
"Where am I?"
"The guards threw you in unconscious. My brother and I were worried. I'm Melody. This is my brother, Vairos."
"Hello, nice to meet you. Want some bread?"
The bread was delightful for Thredes, for it seemed like he hadn't eaten in days.
"Thanks for caring for me...I'm Thredes."
From then on, the three were pals, and cell mates. They all sought the freedom they once had, and decided to escape the jail.
This is where it all began...

Features

TBC System
A unique turnbased system similar to Fate & Destiny's, but different in a lot of ways. If you know Golden Sun's TBC, you know this one.
Team Mana
Your party is bound together through mana. Whenever one of them uses a spell, the mana will be subtracted from all of them.
Interaction System
The ability to talk to nearly all civilians. Inspired by Theoretical_Human. A gateway will also be used for almost all your activites. Look at qPirateKing's Deep Blue demo and you'll understand what I'm saying.
Random Battles
Walking around a monster-infested area will give you a chance to encounter enemies.
Spells
Every party member is limited to 5 spells. Some spells are offensive and can be used in battle. Others will just make obstacles easier to be dealt with. Yet others can effect you depending on your surroundings. No spells are needed to finish the game.
Equipable Armor
There will be various armor that you will be able to equip throughout the game. There will be a way to organize your armor and you will unlock more powerful armor as you progress through the game.
Shops
Shops will be completely virtual. You can scroll through the items in the Potion Shop, but the armor shop will be done with text. Credits to TRiGGaMaSTa.

The dock outside of the jail you have previously escaped from. Hopefully these people are kind enough to take us to the nearest town...

I wander how I can get that item?
[attachmentid=10858]
The fountain is beautiful! Now lets explore the rest of the city.

Mmh, sounds exiting. biggrin.gif

And I really love 1Player Rpg's. there just great and focused on the story line. Its great.
Did I mention that there great?

Also looking forward to the ability to talk to each civilian. And the armor and potion stuff sounds great. Altough in most Rpg's potions are useless/overpowerd/underpowerd. Hope you will get it right, tough. smile.gif

Be sure to finish this one.

Wow Kingra all of this sounds amazing! From the randomized unit speech, to the Virtual Shop. I would really like to see some screenshots, if you have anything to take a screenshot of. And Kingra I wish you the best of luck on this in every way possible, can't wait to see this once you finish it. biggrin.gif

ADDITION:
And from what 007 said, I will also do the same thing. biggrin.gif

Wow Kingra! Nice Screenshots, I liked the first and third one, but the third one the best. That fountain was very good. biggrin.gif You used Floor Missle Traps for the acting of water. Pretty cool.

I've been working a bit on it for a while... still doing terrain, but I got a lot done. I'll give you another two screenies to look at. happy.gif

[attachmentid=10946]
The Potion shop. More is being added, and when I feel it's time I'll add some triggers to it to give it more flavor.
[attachmentid=10947]
The road is being blocked. Better come later.

For the potion shop, a bit of terrain credit to qPirateKing because it's the coolest way I could find to make a "counter" for the medic.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by slayer766 on 2005-06-29 at 15:48:44
Yay! Two more screenies. They look pretty awesome Kingra. Good job on the Potion shop. I like how you have the items in the display area like that. And the counter was cool to, good job that you got the idea from qPirateKing. Well anyways I still have to keep you motivated into completing this RPG. So good luck with more of your terrain skills and hope that your triggers will work out good for you. biggrin.gif

I'm progressing through this faster than I thought...

UPDATE:
Minigame Halls now open!
Each town you enter has another minigame, and in the Minigame Hall you can play those minigames to your heart's content.
Prizes:
Items
Levels Ups
New Spells
Armor, and some special ones, too.

Oh and here's a picture of the Hall. Nothing special.

I gotta go for now, but I'll be back in like 3 hours...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by slayer766 on 2005-06-30 at 10:59:03
Alright, mini-games. Might I suggest that for once a player is in the mini-game that you can only earn a certain amount of experience, so the player doesn't keep on playing and playing the mini-game to get to max level. biggrin.gif Just a suggestion though.

The minigames are going to be harder than you think. That's why I chose level ups.

I'm not so stupid as to make it free. tongue.gif

Oh, well the error's fixed now. Thanks for telling me.

Thank you to all who are encouraging me to finish this RPG. I'm very drawn into it and I doubt I can go a day without working on it. wink.gif

So, here's some information that's going to be done in the next update. The next will probably be the biggest one yet.
In the next Update:
Complete list of armor, spells, and items.
A taste of the monsters that will be fought.
Full Character Bios.

Inotake Forest
The humid climate of this forest made it the most mushroom-infested forest in Kirising. You can find thousands of kinds of mushrooms here varying from deadly poisonous mushrooms to rejuvenating mushrooms...

I thought I'd give you a sneak peak of what I am doing. But that's not why I posted this. tongue.gif
Ok, I need ideas on how to do a forest-type dungeon. I looked at Golden Sun and remember Kolima Forest from Golden Sun. Would it be neat to make a path with trees blocking the exit combined with DTs? The only problem is you can see past the trees, but I guess using High Dirt to block view will do. Or is there a way to limit vision without the use of "Flares" (from LoH)? Tell me what you think.

No, I still having got to the update yet...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PodFedJay on 2005-07-06 at 22:55:00
To limit vision, I would try to blind the main character so when he goes into the forest, have a trigger quickly switch the unit to the same unit but blinded. That might limit the vision pretty nicely,,
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kingra on 2005-07-06 at 22:57:51
Blind as in a Medic's optimal flare or what? I don't play much melee, so I wouldn't know.
Hell, I'm not even sure what optimal flare does.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by slayer766 on 2005-07-06 at 23:45:40
Optimal Flare would be to Blind a unit. biggrin.gif

And another way that you could shorten the vision would be to have like a Defiler or some other short range unit (not sure on which unit is the shortest) and burrow the Defiler under the main character constantly, then turn off the main characters vision and share vision with the burrowed defiler.
