Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Is it real?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kame on 2005-06-29 at 23:30:44
As you probably have noticed, I used to have a sex change every week or so, as a joke.
For those who don't know, I'd randomly would put up a thread saying I was really a guy, and then saying "haha jk" at the end.

Now think of that. Is Kame a real person, or she an intetity I made up for the hell of it? How about Venom/Lily? We all know that I made her up. Do you think I act like this in real life?

What about someone else, say, warhammar or kaboom, or even IP or yoshi. Are they real, or are they puppets of sorts?

This SOOO does not belong in Serious Discussion...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kame on 2005-06-29 at 23:46:05
Yes it does. It is a serious discussion. Do you as Vampire exist in the real world, or are you confined to the internet?

Yes, I am described as a Vampire in real world, read my post in the screen name origin, seriously, I am considered a Vampire.

So how you act online is exactly how you act in real life?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by wesmic da pimp on 2005-06-30 at 00:35:16
Believe it or not, I act more mature on the internet than I do in real life. I don't understand all that other technical crap you're talking about though.

Something like this was said by Slaughtybodfast (or however you spell his name) in Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (written by Douglas Adams): "The chances of figuring out what's really going on are so minute that it's better just to keep yourself occupied and be happy". Assuming everyone is real, when it comes to Genders of the internet... I really couldn't care less. The chances of me hooking up with someone over the net are next to nothing, so I give people the benefit of a doubt. Unless it's something really generic, like 19/f/cali... I don't really care, but I know they aren't =D

What if every mod on this site was controlled by one person? Why should I care? Frankly, people don't have that kind of determination. If it was, they have no meaningful life outside of their computer.

If you have the determination to pretend to be someone you aren't for so long, it still doesn't affect me.

Hah, I'm sure people call me Mp)Sniper in the real world.

Actually, my brother has been called Shaftian in the real world. He used to be a semi-famous Starcraft player and a famous internet person.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowBrood on 2005-06-30 at 06:30:47
People actually call me ShadowBrood in real life... It disturbs me.

Kame cannot be a person as kame is a turtle, you should know this...

I act exactly as I do in real life as I do on the 'net except for 1 thing. I hate talking because it requires me to use my mouth. Yes this is bad. Vocal cords are bad. Aling with sound. Unless it's music or part of a game.

Yes I'm odd, but hey, who isn't?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Wilhelm on 2005-06-30 at 08:50:52
Bob isn't. Now, as for reality, it only goes so far as what you view as real, therefore there is no definite reality, nor are their any definite truths, as the refusal of a fact makes it "untrue".

Kame found me out, im a 47 year old fat guy.

No but really, I see what you mean, but theirs nothing to say but assume.
Annnnnnd proper psychology can tell if a person is lying their age sometimes...

Anyways, maybe i am a robot, but no robot can act like me...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2005-06-30 at 16:35:36
The CaptainWill you see on the Internet is slightly different to the Will in real life.

I am more assertive and articulate on here as I have more time to think about how I should communicate in any given situation.

I think that also applies to many people here on Staredit Network. smile.gif

I'm an asshole in real life. Well, an asshole to assholes.

EDIT: For some reason, I find that sentence really really gay sounding. lol. Might just be me.

I think that is sort of the opposite for me at times. Though online it is easier to write out thinks and argue intelligently, and point out flaws in another persons reply, when in real life most arguments are poorly carried out with one person just repeating one thing over and over not listening to what the other person has to say and every time saying it louder and louder... blah blah

Though online I can just act retarded whenever I want, or when I'm bored or whatever and I don't care and neither should the other person tongue.gif Though there are times when I'm more serious online, depends on the situation.

On SEN I can't go crazy and do very dumb things so I leave that on Battle net and in the real world. Although probably on battlenet will I do more stupid things because after all it is the internet w00t.gif. Some person here said that I can be considered the person who stands around looking and not doing anything. In real life, I might do that when I go to a new place but I will ajust pretty fast.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2005-06-30 at 22:49:49
In general... I think people act more immature in real life than on the internet.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KaboomHahahein on 2005-06-30 at 22:55:01
I agree.

The consequence on the Internet will not be that bad (unless you are doing illegal thigns). And on the INternet when you act like an idiot, you are probably just joking around. In real life, you can't always act imature. Sometimes in rea life you need to be mature on things.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2005-06-30 at 22:59:37
Besides, all you are really doing on the internet is just typing; moving your fingers from key to key. When type the characters "lol," you probably aren't really laughing out loud.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KaboomHahahein on 2005-06-30 at 23:01:32
Most of the time "lol" is kind of like "heh" or a very small chuckle in real life. You only sometimes actually laugh in your seat. That has happened but not too offten.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MillenniumArmy on 2005-06-30 at 23:06:38
Yea only the capitalized "LOL" and other terms like "lmao" or "rofl" do you actually laugh out loud. It's kinda funny how this is the way things are happy.gif
