Screw the demo, work on the game. Also, don't test it or show it off much at all.

My personal suggestion, that's all. It's what I'm doing.

Sounds nice odd tongue.gif have fun with this

Finish this one, just take your time and enjoy it. If you try to do too much rushing or put too much on this map, it might end up like the others. Just my opinion for ya. Goodluck.

Console Description:

Spell System: [color=gray]You will chose what element of spells you will study at the begining of the game. This will affect what spells you will learn and at what level you will learn them. The 4 slots are your spell slots. Those are the spells you can cast. To cast a spell you will creatre the corrosponding unit from the Gateway matching the square. If you have 4 spells and want a new one you must overwrite an old spell and you will never be able to use that spell again.

Selector System: This system will be used to talk to people in stored and make important decisions throught the map. This system when not talking or selecting anything is used for spells.

Item System: This system uses the corsairs Web ability to chose the Item you want to use. There are 6 slots to hold items. NOTE: Quest Items will also take up a space. When you have 6 Items it will not allow you to pick up or buy any more items. To remove items you will have a diffler under the corsair and you can use DarkSwarm to remove the Item From the invintory.

Well Odd. I am liking what I am seeing. May I make a suggestion (or a couple actually)?

First off, I like the Prolouge. It is very catchy. But, I was wondering if you could possibly polish it up a but. To me, I think you can write better than that. The story kind of jumps around a bit. Maybe you could try something like this:

(Your Story)

When a boy becomes a man he must face a challenge. In this case young Kira Fangfather has a rather diffacult challenge. He is send across the ocean by his parents in order to get a better life than he would have in the West. His Father is a retired knight who cares for his child and does not wish him to follow the same path he did. As Kira gets on the ship across sea he wonders... What will become of me? This will truely be a Test of Faith.

My Version:

When a boy slowly reaches adolesence, he must face one of his biggest challenges . Kira (the last name is... weird), has come across a very difficult lesson. Kira was to be sent across the lands, into the flourishing lands of the west. His Father, (insert name) is a knight has abandoned the sword to care for his children. (You could possibly add another maine character here) Kira and (Insert Character, it you'd like to) have not been taught the ways of the warriors. But have been raised to live in peace. As the father did not want his children to live the horrific life he has had to live. As Kira and (maybe other character) board the ship. They look at their father for the last time. Little did they know, that this journey would most definitley be, a Test of Faith.

If you don't like that, no worries. I am bored anyways, just my suggestion. It sounds a little more lively to me like that. happy.gif

As for my other suggestion, I see blockyness in the second screeny. Can you spot it?

It's on the bridge's left corner. tongue.gif Just helping 'ya out. bleh.gif

And last but not least. You should start off with making the engine of the map first. That way, you can the map moving. That is one of the reasons I dropped my last map. I never got an engine working.

Other than that, looks fun! And for love of god, FINISH THIS MAP!!!

Just tell me what I need to do to keep you motivated on this map. Because, you and I have the same problems. We make a cool map but never finish it. ermm.gif

Sweet a map from Odd. biggrin.gif I love all of your ideas that you have ever posted up here on SEN. Your terrain looks really cool. And from the Console system that sounds interesting and should be very efficient to use in your map. So good luck on this one Odd and hope you finish this.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2005-06-30 at 23:30:18
im confused... is this a remake of the old map you were making because the beginning looks exactly the same.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TRiGGaMaSTa on 2005-07-01 at 00:02:16
Tehee... have you ever seend The Avatar, the last air bender? You spells remind me of that. This looks neat i can't wait to test it for ya if that's alright.

Jake,
1)I really like that prologure I think I will probably use it smile.gif
2)Ya its a little blocky there but what can you do bleh.gif
3)Ya I know I need to finish the engine but the good thing about this one is that I alredy know EXACTLY what needs to be dont therefore leting me finish the map faster and better biggrin.gif

Urmom,
it kind of is... The begining is a remake and the first town which no one saw is a remake. However the whole world will be made better and will have many more places to explore...

Keep posting feedback... I expect to have my Item system finished today

Do you guys have any Item Ideas... I dont want to many or It will Really Waste the 8 triggers I need per Item smile.gif

So far:
-Herb =Heals some Health
-Elixer =Restores some mana

EDIT: Hit a roadblock... Do poweups count as Unit? Because I have it so when you walk to a powerup it looks to see if there is any open slots using the AnyUnit command... But It doesnt work and it keeps trying to create a unit in slot 1 not 2...

EDIE2: RoadBlock Cleared... I created Observers for another player above the powerups int he item slots... item system almsot fully functional... Just need some more item Ideas to Add Into It...

If you're gonna make vision range really small during nightime or at dark places, you could add a item, Torch.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2005-07-01 at 14:02:05
ya, perhaps torch could give you even more vision. here is an idea for the torch:

you can walk up to certain things and light them on fire to create more light and u still keep your torch. so if your in a cave and there are torch holsters with toraches in them, you could light the other torches as well as using the torch you have for light. then mabe they burn out when daytime comes.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheOddAngel on 2005-07-02 at 09:08:19
Im not sure I will have anything different about the night exept different enemies will come out... And also mabe some quests will only be posiable at night.
IE: Kill 5 Shades

I need some more items... Do you want my RPG to only have the herb and Elixer? I dont think so bleh.gif Right now Im thinking on redoing the triggers because they are a little messy... They should all be done by the end of today...

Has anyone commented on the 2 other sreenshots... The 3rd is the town No one ever saw. And the 2ed one is The Console System in use
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kingra on 2005-07-02 at 09:13:46
Maybe have different levels of herbs? Maybe a stronger herb that heals more HP. Elixer too. BTW, don't you think that "3rd town" look strangely like qPirateKing's Harper in LoH?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheOddAngel on 2005-07-02 at 09:43:24
Not really... its nothing like it...

The screenshot that I took is the middle Island. Form that there are 3 bridges that go to small parts of the city on the side. The botem right bridge goes to the exit and a little part of city and the top right hooks around to the left to where you enter it from the docks... The bottem is jsut to the thavern tongue.gif

I might use more HP things but... I dont know...

Question: Should I use a Virtual HP system in this map?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Neiji on 2005-07-02 at 10:18:31
Toxic Herb: Can randomly heal you a LOT AND make you stronger, or poison you...

Virtual HP: YES! And make it so... the lings are hallucinated or something... I don't wanna see those damn blood, or at least put hypers so like it's actually under the unit at ALL TIMES!

Virtual Hp would cause for more use of strategy. I think.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheOddAngel on 2005-07-02 at 22:40:56
Ok so... I am going to do Virtual Hp system... Wont be to advanced just a basic one... I will probably use Lurkers as the underground unit to maximize the area you can get hit from so you cant never be hit...

Toxic Herb: I duno... it might waste some precious randomizing switches...

Items So Far:

Herb = +10HP
Herbal Tea = +18HP
Elixer = +5 Mana
Mana Potion = +10 Mana

but do hallucinated units count as deaths when they die? thats the roadblock im fguring out in my map.

If you figure it out... tell me because it might help biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by MapUnprotector on 2005-07-03 at 23:32:27
I'm pretty sure they don't. I've seen this discussed before.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by qPirateKing on 2005-07-04 at 09:22:10
If they don't, you can still find a way to make it work! It might take some work, but you can have something like this:

TRIGGER 1:
If "hostile player" brings at least 1 any unit to location "player radius."
If switch "battling" is cleared.
Then create 1 "halluc" at "p1 1x1"
Then set switch "battling."

TRIGGER 2:
If switch "battling" is set.
If "neutral player" brings exactly 0 "halluc" to location "player radius."
Then create 1 "halluc" at "p1 1x1."
Then add 1 deaths of men for "current player."

TRIGGER 3:
If "hostile player" brings exactly 0 any unit to location "player radius."
If switch "battling" is set.
Then clear switch "battling."
Then remove all "halluc" at "player radius."

The first trigger enables a "battle state" under which a location is set to detect if there is a hallucinated unit under you. The second switch fires when the halluc under you is killed (bring condition), it sets off another trigger which manually adds a death counter (used to set your virtual hp). The last trigger takes you out of "battle state."

*note: this will not work well if you have to fight swarms of enemies. also, this is a bare outline that you will probably have to play around with to suit your needs. I hope you understand the idea behind it though.

I have jsut decided... Im not the RPG kind of person... THe triggers arn't that fun for me in an rpg... I can and have fun making arena type maps and I will make those from now on...

Sorry if anyone is disapointed...
