In my opinion, the Human race is to bloody unorganized. I love that fact that if there were ever a threat to our species as a whole, say an asteroid or extraterrestial invasion, we would cement together like that. In Halo 2, Johnson is talks about how before the threat of the Covenant, 'the Orbital Defense Grid was all theory and politics. Now look at it. The [forgotten name] is just one of [forgotten number] space defense platforms.'
Unfortunately, this had never happen and probably won't for quite some time.
Our Extinction:
On a side note, who ever says extraterrestials will actually 'invade' us, like Normady? Who came up with that idea? They want to wipe us out? Here's an idea, drop an extremely contagious deadly disease into the atmosphere that has a different evolutionary path then our dieases so that our immune systems can't deal with it. We wouldn't even know we'd been invaded, in our final hours we'd still be thinking it was a world-wide epidemic that had nothing to do with invasion.
If the extraterrestials could get all the way here, I'm sure they would also be able to engineer the disease so that their bodies were immune to it...
Another thing, humans aren't too creative when it comes to other forms of life. We have to apply what we know to EVERYTHING else? WTF? WHY WOULD LIFE NEED WATER? WHY? OR OXYGEN? JUST BECAUSE OUR LIFE NEEDS IT? YOU STUPID SCIENTIST NEED TO OPEN YOUR MINDS UP!!!
Plus, all aliens in any book, movie or video game can be classified into one of these three groups:
Human-Like: Driven by emotions, mechanical tech
Bio-Efficient: No tech, driven by thoughtless duty to the social structure
Covie/ Toss: Energy driven tech, driven by heavy religion

I did a report way abck in Seventh garde on Bubonic Plague (Black plague from the british dark ages)
Anyways, this is transmitted through infected fleas. All it'd take would be on cat, dog, mouse, gerbil, deer, moose, bears, ect to cause a worldwide epidemic. Inject it into tons of animal,s move them into teh usa, and you got an empidemic, especialy in slum areas where hygene isn't very good. Three fleas, would be all it'd take. Vacinations are rare, treatment is very harsh, and bubonic plague is very dangerous. Human love to set themselves up as dominoes, when one guy presses the red button instead of teh blue, we tend to nuke ourselves into oblivion...
You both seem to have forgotten that we are the most dominant species on this planet.

Because every living thing requires water, btw those scientists are way smarter than all of us, keep that in mind. If you think something is wrong about what they say, it's probably because you don't understand.

On the other hand, other animals can't even make a cure.
