Report, edit, etc...Posted by warhammer40000 on 2005-07-01 at 19:40:24
This is what I think about the human race.

Prejeduce- No natter what you think, every human is prejeduced. Even the least prejeduced person on the earth has a little bit of it in them. Its in human nature to treat others that are different... differently. Or even think about them differently.

Greed- Humans are made of greed. We always want more. And when we get more. We want EVEN MORE! And it keeps going.
Now you may doubt this, but take this example that fits most of our age groups.
Lets say you think we should have... an extra weekend day! So say before time (B.C.), the calender was developed with an extra day called "OffDay," and it was always like that. So now there are 3 weekend days. Guess what
You would be complaining for more.
Even if that system was developed tommorow, in some period of time, you would be thinking something like "we need more time off," but you would most likely keep your mouth shut before someone goes "DONT BE SPOILED" (Yet even the person who says "dont be spoiled" has probably thought of it...)

Lies- Greed is mixed in with this one. We humans usually state false facts to avoid something bad. We all do, but maybe sometimes some people can resist some larger lies. But we always lie about something for our good.
Until maybe were hit hard with a consequence of lying, then try not to again.

Exaggeration- Now some humans may barely ever lie. But exaggeration is something ALL humans use. Since its nothing that "big," nothing bad would come out of it. And the consequences are minimal. Now of course when humans exaggerate, we hear a bigger response. And end up exaggerating more, the next time you mention it. It sometimes ends up with some consequences.

There, now i can direct anyone to this thread when i need to.

I really dont know why I made this thread, but ive been wanting to say how much I hate the human race for some time. Anyways, if you disagree or have something to add, do so....

Okay:
First: Did you pull this from a textbook on Phsycology? I didn't think you were capable of deep thought.

Second: Everyone is flawed in some way, it's how you get around them that proves how good a person you are.

Third:
In my class I was the smart guy, and my classmates seemed pretty stupid (I'm officialy 99 years old today! Joking!) anyways, to be truly dumb, stupid, or retarded, you have to start out not so bright, but then refuse to learn, that's the key to being intelligent.

fourth:
It's a content man who knows no other ways to improve his life.

fifth:
Humans need to get past Sex. (like taht's gonna happen) to get rid of greed, and lies. How many times does an affair cuase lies. And how many times does affairs end in murders from the two Lovebird's greed?

1st-
No, I can be pretty smart, I just dont use it much on battle.net. Anyway, psychological crap is fun.

2-
We all have the same disease, like stated above. Then theres a few with extra diseases.

3rd-
BOOM! Gotcha, you just were prejeduced. But i know what you mean.

4th-
Tell that to all of the celeberities who went bankrupt.

5th-
Very True, that shows alot of the bad human qualities. Affairs. Greed... Lies...

I think it's all just your opinion, some people would find nothing wrong with the things you described tongue.gif

Good point. But Mr. Devilesk doesn't take those things into consideration.

One of our favorite things to do, is to bullshit ourselves into thinking we're so great.

Forgot about that one. Guess that would go with greed. Need more.. "applause."

Pride and greed are not the same thing. You can have the least amount of things and still be the most stuck up person in the world. Greed normally applies to physical objects.

I think the human race is perfect in every way and all those things we see as 'bad' we created with our nature/minds. If we evolved differently maybe all the things we think of as good would be bad. How do we know what is truely 'good' or 'bad'. Thats why humans are so perfect becuase we can use our minds and create thoughts of this nature and such. etc...

Taking it deeply, yes, killing people can be good, it depends on what rules the humans made up.

But taking it into current human sense...

This reminds me of the four points of Bhuddism:

1. Life is suffering;

2. Suffering is because of attachment;

3. Attachment can be overcome;

4. There is a path for doing so.

We all have 'attachment'. Our attachment is our emotions, it is who we hang out with, it is who we idolize, it is the things we do, it is what causes suffering in the end.

That's why aliens are so much cooler then humans. I'm not sure why you complain of these things, it's not like we can stop them from occuring. The government has twisted our beliefs in order to control us more easily. If everyone thought differently, the goverment would have a hard time controlling us, or, you, to be exact.

What does that have to do with what I said? I never said anything about not caring, the part where you said "wether you like it or not" just describes exactly what I said, which is that some people might not have the same opinion about those qualities of human nature.

I agree with what Chris said about good and bad.

Greed isn't deadly.
it's when someone thinks their worth lies in how many friends they have is when I say "How did you asylum trip go?"
But yeah, wanting to be liked (too much, like if it's an obbsession) is definately a sin.

A fool:
Counts his worth by the number of friends he has

A normal Person:
Thinks taht his friends are there to help, and that he couldn't get through life without them

A truly smart person values friends as just that, friends. Not tools, measures of worth, just friends.

In my opinion, the Human race is to bloody unorganized. I love that fact that if there were ever a threat to our species as a whole, say an asteroid or extraterrestial invasion, we would cement together like that. In Halo 2, Johnson is talks about how before the threat of the Covenant, 'the Orbital Defense Grid was all theory and politics. Now look at it. The [forgotten name] is just one of [forgotten number] space defense platforms.'

Unfortunately, this had never happen and probably won't for quite some time.

Our Extinction:

On a side note, who ever says extraterrestials will actually 'invade' us, like Normady? Who came up with that idea? They want to wipe us out? Here's an idea, drop an extremely contagious deadly disease into the atmosphere that has a different evolutionary path then our dieases so that our immune systems can't deal with it. We wouldn't even know we'd been invaded, in our final hours we'd still be thinking it was a world-wide epidemic that had nothing to do with invasion.

If the extraterrestials could get all the way here, I'm sure they would also be able to engineer the disease so that their bodies were immune to it...

Another thing, humans aren't too creative when it comes to other forms of life. We have to apply what we know to EVERYTHING else? WTF? WHY WOULD LIFE NEED WATER? WHY? OR OXYGEN? JUST BECAUSE OUR LIFE NEEDS IT? YOU STUPID SCIENTIST NEED TO OPEN YOUR MINDS UP!!!

Plus, all aliens in any book, movie or video game can be classified into one of these three groups:

Human-Like: Driven by emotions, mechanical tech
Bio-Efficient: No tech, driven by thoughtless duty to the social structure
Covie/ Toss: Energy driven tech, driven by heavy religion

Now I'm not saying they all fit perfectly into the mold, just they all come damn close.

ABout the diesease thing:
I did a report way abck in Seventh garde on Bubonic Plague (Black plague from the british dark ages)
Anyways, this is transmitted through infected fleas. All it'd take would be on cat, dog, mouse, gerbil, deer, moose, bears, ect to cause a worldwide epidemic. Inject it into tons of animal,s move them into teh usa, and you got an empidemic, especialy in slum areas where hygene isn't very good. Three fleas, would be all it'd take. Vacinations are rare, treatment is very harsh, and bubonic plague is very dangerous. Human love to set themselves up as dominoes, when one guy presses the red button instead of teh blue, we tend to nuke ourselves into oblivion...

You both seem to have forgotten that we are the most dominant species on this planet.

Because every living thing requires water, btw those scientists are way smarter than all of us, keep that in mind. If you think something is wrong about what they say, it's probably because you don't understand.

On the other hand, other animals can't even make a cure.

For the first quote in the above post, I have to say:

If an alien disease used a different evolutionary path, would it really be able to actually invade us without ANYONE devoloping some sort of immunity? Think about it. If NOBODY could develop ANY defense, the disease would probably be incompatible with us because it is too different.

And life forms need oxygen because oxygen is reactive, as opposed to other gasses like helium. And reactive=better.

Actually not all life forms needed oxygen, only water is needed. Some organisms die from oxygen.

Plants for example.

I've also seen things on the discovery channel that live off of those under water vents, I think it's like sulfur or something, like some sort of bacteria.

Some organisms live off of chemicals and things. Some don't even need sunlight or get their energy from something that needs sunlight.

Hold the phone...
Maybe life as we know it requires water, but why other life? It's just a matter of opening your mind. The definition of life ought to be (not is) something that can manipulate the tranfer of energy to its own ends. I'm not saying like a rock fall off a cliff due to errosion, purposesful use of it. So then why would it need water?

As for the disease thing, what I meant was if the aliens are smart enough to get here, they could acduct one or two people covertly, figure out everything that makes us run, and bioengineer something that kills us, but not them.

EDIT: Okay, I couldn't find it and I won't say it hasn't been published. I simply read an article on it (don't say anything about inquirer or the like) and will admit you are probably right on that. There's no life that doesn't need water, on Earth.

(For those who missed it, I claimed that there were critters near the core that didn't need water...)

alien.gif
You cannot say that there isn't at least some life out there not based on water, though. The universe is simply too vast for there not to be...

And as far as the disease, let's scrap what I said before and say they are alot like us. They COULD make a disease that would kill us but not them that the immune system couldn't do anything about. I don't see anybody naturally ridding themselfs of HIV... Nor do I see a cure... I wonder....

By the way, keep calm, this is serious discusion and it's just a place for people to state their ideas and beleifs. You shouldn't get so angry over it. pokey.gif
