I'm sorry but I don't know exactly where else to post this. There have been problems that I've heard from people being unable to play certain maps because it said that the file name was invalid. I post this because this has afflicted my favorite map (both submissions of Operation: Suicide) and my own map (Queen of Blades). I noticed the same problem with Skyscraper Defense as well and it may have affected others of mine that I haven't checked out. This problem can easily be fixed. Simply delete the one between two brackets in the file name:
[1]
I don't know how those got inserted in there, but I want people to be able to enjoy my personal favorite maps (yes, that includes my own; so sue me for being proud). I hope this makes life a little easier for some.
Yea i dont get why Staredit Network's DLDB changes the name of the file by adding the extra [1] in it.
But i guess you could shorten your map name just by a little
Do you mean when they try to play the game in Starcraft or try to open it in Staredit or download it from Staredit.net?
If they cant play it its because the file name is too long, like "Holy__Crap__D_2_[V1.44]". Its way too long.
I dont know why the file names are getting "[1]" added to them though. Ask one of the Download DB managers, they should know (DT_Battlekruser is a DDBM [download database manager]).
We wouldn't know. Ask Yoshi why the DLDB screws the filename, he coded it.
just rename it if its too long

if its regular file name 2 long, then just change it. If its .bak like u get when saving in starforge, then save as. I think it helps, and takes away all the .baks
or u can just open it in scxe n save it
Just stick it in a zip file.
ahhh zip file! I hate that cuz then i'll have 2 extract it
And it will take days more to approve. I always approve maps not in zip files first so if I quit early, the zips don't get done. Just don't use such freaking huge filenames.
Technically, maps are pretty good zip files themselves. They don't need an extra 100-byte cut and another extension.
Actually DK, the MPQ is a better compresser than ZIP. The reason I suggested it is so the filename doesn't get distorted.
Well the real sollution is people shouldn't try to fit as many characters of text in their map name as they can. If you think the name's too long, use initials.
Just keep the map name nice n short
Also, in ur map plz save as the same letter in the front as ur map name, makes it so much easier 2 find
For example:
Heaven Bound, NOT -Heaven Bound-, NOT _1_Heaven Bound
