Ok this in my mind would be the longest rpg ever. Lets say you finish your rpg. then you make another one. on the normal rpg do this "set next scenario" and do your little special other map. once you have done this its basically a "real" rpg. By doing this your rpg will basically have a part two that is actually in the map. give me replies damnit!.
First, it won't work on b.net.
And how do you propose transferring character information between the maps?
yea "set next scenario" doesnt work on bnet n i wouldnt want 2 play an rpg 4 so long
it can just be single player, and also be like a sequal so it wont really have to transfer character data or just have like certain default stats at about around that the character would be at
I dont like single player maps...its just more fun when u can play with other ppl
but w/e u want
Yeah, Single player on Sc is pretty much dead. I'd rather play some Tierium Sun: Firestorm Single player than StarCraft, or C&C generals...
But this is a good idea, I had one idea floating around in my head, where you could transfer into another region by setting next Scenario, but you could go back to the other Scenario and use some system like The Xuru system to bring back your character...
Just a thought, didn't really explain it clearly, but you got the point
Starcraft singleplay is not exactly the greatest. The computer sucks, and UMS maps for 1 player generally just suck.
I just have to agree with every1 else singleplayer sc realy suxx so the thing you should do is to make a the xuru like system and maker like imagine The RPG scenario1 and then The RPG scenario2 etc
its hard to make thought
I would like to disagree.
There is nothing wrong with single player, people just prefer more social maps.
The set next scenario trigger is no reason to make a map single player instead.
Rush is kinda single player though...
But ya, set next scenario is a really pointless trigger.
I had this idea when I realized one of the RPGs I was making was too large. Buuuut.. transferring data would be next to impossible. The only solution I could find was to input a password or something. In order to prevent cheating, it would probably need a lot of checks..
I'm actually doing this. But the character data transfer will always be constant, it's just that depending on how you end, you'll play a different map and so on and on. And yes, on single player.
*yawn that wouldn't be the longest RPG ever. I know exactly what would make a longest
multiplayer RPG, but it's step 3 of my mapmaking plan. I might not even be on Starcraft long enough to get to step 3
.
Who plans out what they're going to map? Why not just go with what's going on right now?
Mine is already planned out. It's based on a FF text roleplaying with other people.
I just changed around...a lot of stuff.
Longest RPG ever? Do you realize nobody cares if its the longest? It can still suck very easily. Longest does not equal best. And, if it is good, it will take an insanely long time and extreme amount of motivation to actually get done. I don't even think you're thinking of the time it would take to create one GOOD RPG. If you're going for the longest RPG ever, good luck.
^Exactly, why would a very long RPG make the game anymore fun? Have you ever heard someone like a game just because it is long?

Yes? Many times people complain when a good RPG ends suddenly after little gameplay. FF7 for example is thought of by many as one of the best RPG's ever, and it exceeds 100 hours if completely explored. You should know what you are talking about.
Ok, so if a game is too short that is one thing, but that doesn't change the fact that you don't need a super long RPG, or any game genre, before the game can be good.
I think this would be more of like an Open RPG. Open RPGs are VERY long. You can have like a huge amount of level upgrades using very small increments. Sort of like a Diablo 2 thing.

who wants to sit down and explore an rpg for 100 hours? most people want to play it here out the storyline and thats it .. then once they here that storyline people generally will REPLAY the rpg again for a 2nd time to "EXPLORE IT"
if an rpg is good enuf people will be on the edge of there seat hanging to find out what is going to happen next.. rpg exploring is just a time pass buyer or for those people who have no life....
has anyone played suikoden 2? i finished that rpg the first time i played it in just over 19 hours...
legend of dragoon i finished in a short of 37 hours.. both rpgs i enjoyed and replyed again the 2nd time i played suikoden it took me 43 hours to finish it..
also to those people that complain that a GOOD rpg always ends suddenly after little game play.. notice how its always the GOOD rpgs that generually ends short? the ones that are long arnt always spoken about as good game play for that fact... if u take a good rpg and make it dragged out even longer then it has to be then it isnt good anymore is it? on the same token dont rush things... but a rpg should be at the point where people want to play it and find out this "FANTASY world" 2nd time playing should be "exploring the world" "understanding it better" when u watch a movie at the cinemas do u watch it to rewind and watch the first scene 20times over? u watch it straight over once .. make an intitial thought AND THEN... rewatch it if u want to understand it BETTER... how a GOOD rpg should be played and viewed.

Isn't it going to be 2 player?
And actually my favorite rpgs are the longer than usual ones, "Faith & Destiny" was one of my favorites
NOoo?? Single player is dead??!!?!?!?...
all that work....
what if there was an observer spot so you can still talk LoL!
The longest RPG ever? Why not call it, The Most Boring Rpg Ever?
The Honourless was freaking long and 1 player, but it rocked!
The Legacy of Hæan is long and it has 4 players, but it was awesome!
Faith and Destiny is even freaking longer, is somewhat turned based, and has 4 players, but it's probably the most indepth RPG ever!
What are you talking about "long = boring" ?
The title is "Fate and Destiny". "Faith and Destiny" is a stolen version. The current version is being made by Endaire (spelling maybe) but I don't know how far it is now. I think i'ts 65% but I'm not sure.
