Yep, I've spent my time working on this new Halo II map. It's ok right now, but it still seems kind of empty. It uses a hijack system similar to what my Mercenaries map has, but it isn't limited to just one player anymore. I figured since I knew how to use the hijacking system, I could use it in a Halo map.

Map Name: Halo II Deathmatch
Players: 6 Players
Map Size: 128x128
Objective:

Destroy the Spartan Headquarters (Covenant)
OR
Destroy the Covenant Temple

I also added a little twist to the map: Every three minutes the Flood attack both bases, so if you're busy attacking the other player, your building might get destroyed by the Flood.

Obviously, with the Mercenaries hijacking system in place here, there are some vehicles. Right now, I have put 5 vehicles in: Ghost, Warthog, Scorpion, Banshee, and a UNSC Fighter (To balance out Banshee).

Also, to basically make Spawn-Camping alot harder, I've added 4 random respawn points. You don't respawn at your base, you respawn at 4 different places I've placed around the map.

Then there are the gun turrets, an MG Turret and a Rocket Turret. Each team has 2 mg turrets and 1 rocket turret. To prevent the game from getting unbalanced, the Spartans can only control the turrets by their base, and the Covenant can only control the turrets by their base.

And if anyone is wondering, yes, I have all of these features working in my map right now, but I think the map is still kinda shallow.

Sweet a HaloII Arena map. biggrin.gif I like the idea of the Flood spawning from time to time to attack both of the bases. The hijacking thing is pretty sweet, I have played your mercenaries map also. smile.gif And the 4 random spawning locations, with you respawning randomly every time, I think that's a very good idea. So if like the Covenant was just hovering over your main spawn point, you would never be able to spawn, unless your teamates killed the Covenant. The turrets are good, but you should have Photon cannons at the Covenant base for their Plasma Turrets, and something else for another turret. biggrin.gif Good luck with your map and can you post some screenshots up?

Ok, i've changed the Covies turrets to plasma, now to only think of a covenant equivilent of a rocket launcher, hmm...

If I were you, I'd try to make the map smaller. This map is too big for an arena. The players should be able to find each other fairly easily, but have enough terrain to enhance the gameplay.

Um... First of all... Change the name To something else... Not Deathmatch... Its not a Deathmatch if people dont just try to kill eachother...

Yeah, I started to realize that myself back when I added other stuff, so I think I'll change it. Anyway, the map is still coming along, though slowly, so it turns out ok.

The term for a UNSC fighter would be a "Longsword" as hinted at the end of Halo: CE.

It's not Halo II, it's "Halo 2" with a circle around the 2. It don't look like a deathmatch to me, it doesn't look like any multiplayer objective. If you added the UNSC Fighter, where's the Wraith Tank for the Covenants? Also, theres some stuff you've missed, wait, why not capture the flag or Bomb assault instead of Building Assault?

Ok i am a halo freak and i want this map to turn out good! There needs to be more Combat(ish) maps around! now i have had around 3 hours sleep in the past 2 days because i was at my friends place and he had a huge frag fest (halo 2 with 16 players for as long as we can stay awake) And I think I am now a pro at the game!

Ok I will start with a marines version of the banshee should be a pelicen! but then the problem is that its also a transport ship so its kinda hard on the triggers! Try to put in the covenent specter as i found out around 17 hours ago (I need sleep!) On a map like Waterworks with single CTF with 2 teams of 8 a specter is a great transport! Besides the fact that it can have a driver and a gunner the 2 dudes that can sit on the sides make it bloody sweet!

Mounted Guns now, the covenent mounted plasma gun is actully really,really,really weak but it shoots at a easy pace so you might want to stack 2 photon cannons, the marines only have normal mounted guns with a alright damige and shoots really fast (it takes 20 seconds to kill som1 with the mounted gun) So try to take that into consederation

The Bomb Assult sounds good because as i no the bomb assult can really be a pain in the ass! try to change it to the bomb assult as the SCV could be the MC with bomb and the probe could be the Elite with the bomb! and remember that the bomb can kill any1 with a normal sheild if they hit them in the face or if they hit them in the back (as any weapon will kill if hit in the back)

Well i think i just went thru all my stuff and its time for me to get back to the frag fest (i was checking emails and got some from SEN) So anyway good luck with the map and i will post in a few hours if i am awake! We Spent 100 bucks on coffie and we aint even half way thru it! anyway cya!

Wow... you really dont know anything about Halo vold... Why would it be a pelican... A pelican is like the Coveneant dropship... A banchee is more like a Longsword more than anything but... The longsword is more high performance and can go in space... 20 seconds with a mounted gun... Please stop the BS... I can kill people with that thing in 5 seconds flat or less...

BTW: Unless you've played on Xbox live with other players you will never get good enough... People online can easily waste some others...
Example: I almsot never miss with Human Sniper only if there is lagg or I am totaly not thinking straight I normaly get over a 90% hit rating if its the only gun I have to use

Stupid! A Pelicen is wat drops the MC off on the first level and about the 20 second thing, the dude who was shootin it sucked like hell and couldnt aim so its probly just me, Wat is a longsword?? Like comon! As for the frag fest for the first 12 hours (me and my friend started 12 hours early) We Where on xbox live and any1 who couldnt show up to the frag fest just joined our party! all frag fests are thru xbox live! The reason i said the pelicon cause you see the sarge take up one of the mounted guns on it!

90% hit rating? Comon dude if the sniper is the only gun i use my hit rating is either 95% to 100% but then you give me a SMG or Battle Rifle and it drops down to around 20% to 45%, Dam i am still tired and i am just back on for around 5 more min to check SEN! Every1 else is doing a single CTF on zanzibar and the Red team is getting censored.gif ing owned! i better go join in and help! they have been playing for half an hour and no1 has the god dam sword! wat noobs!

Welll i see you know what your doing but somthings don't add up. Like the warHog. You have to make it so that 3 people can get into it.. It would be pritty cool. For example you make like a missle trap follow and shoot and yea. When you reach a certain point, 3 civs come out. Basicly b4 all this happends make it so that a civ goes near the hog and goes to p1 or w/e and p2 will go in and p3 will go in and come out at a certain point. Try and make a trigger or a thing to make your civ re-Spawn whenever you in the war hog to get out i mean. Well try and get some original triggers in there. Good luck it sounds good so far.

It is somewhat big, but thats what the teleporters and fast vehicles are for, for example: if you are at the enemies base and flood start going to yours, use the teleporter at the enemies base. BTW, the teleporters have 3 possible places now, i'll add maybe 4 more i think. Headlong on SC would be impossible really, since theres no real 3d. This is more like extended blood gulch.

Whats the difference between "Halo 2" and "Halo II"? Besides, Roman numerals just look a little more stylish. Right now, the vehicles are: Warthog, Scorpion, UNSC Fighter (A longsword is way more powerful than a banshee), Banshee, Ghost, and Wraith. And I'll add bomb assault and ctf elements alongside the combat, sort of like Half-Life Team Fortress SC had (deathmatching and ctf together)

Aren't all of us in this topic some kind of Halo freak? Like i said before, Bomb Assault elements will be in the map. SCV/PROBE bombers are good. If anyone knows about my Mercenaries map, you will also know about the mod I used with it. I could make a mod for this, but it could be a pain in the ass to use a mod online.

Yeah, I said before in this post that a Longsword is overkill compared to a Banshee, so a generic UNSC Fighter should do. I'll make the turrets kill around 6-7 seconds.

First of all, the hijacking triggers would basically be useless if I tried to implement three person vehicles. I'd have to overhaul them, and that seems a little too deep. I never planned on making the map so deep, but now I realized that I really should. Heck, I definitely have all the time to do it.

OK, now for some real updates:

First of all, there are teleporters at each base which, similar to the respawn trigger, will send you to one of three currently possible locations. 3 isn't enough, so naturally, I'll add more.

The Turret System I have right now is simple, each team can only control their own respective turrets (to prevent ownage), and to control them, you simply walk near them. Like in the real game, if you leave them, you cannot use them.

With the suggestions of CTF and Bomb Assault, I think I'll add these to the map.

And finally, vehicles being able to run over players will be implemented somehow. I just have to get to work. I think I'll let the Scorpion run over everything though, vehicles included.

Glad to hear progress on your map. biggrin.gif But the Scorpion tank should not be able to run over everything even vehicles. That's kinda way to powerful, since in the real game the Scorpion tank cannon destroy vehicles by simply runnying them over. But the way you could have the vehicles run over the player's is to just simply make a location around the vehicle with one box limit outside the vehicle, then whenever the owner of the vehicle is in the vehicle just center location on the vehicle, and then once an enemy unit or your teamates unit runs into the location around the vechicle owned by you, will get ran over. biggrin.gif

Sounds good with the whole running over thing but when you think about it the tank would run over stuff and blow it up! but in halo it dsnt so scrap that idea! the wraith should also have that ability aswell because thats the covenent tank! The only problem i can see is that the boarding idea would be hard and deep! try boarding a moving warthog when it has all 3 peeps in it! and the dude driving should be speeding! make it random! so that there is a 75% chance of running over and a 25% chance of boarding!

Hmm... sounds like a fun game.. cant wait til it comes out. Well its never going to be as good as Halo 2 on Xbox but it might at least be fun
