Two people have been killed and scores have been injured after at least seven blasts on the Underground network and a double-decker bus in London.
UK Prime Minister

Tony Blair said it was "reasonably clear" there had been a series of terrorist attacks.

He said it was "particularly barbaric" that it was timed to coincide with the G8 summit. He is returning to London.

An Islamist website has posted a statement - purportedly from al-Qaeda - claiming it was behind the attacks.

London's police chief Sir Ian Blair said there had been "many casualties" but it was too early to put a figure to those killed or injured.

More than 100 casualties and one of the dead were taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.

And St Mary's Hospital said it was dealing with 26 injured people, including four with critical injuries and eight in a serious condition.

Sir Ian urged people to stay where they were and not to call emergency services unless it was a life-threatening situation.

He reassured the public that an emergency plan was in place and the situation was "steadily coming under control".

Scotland Yard said explosions have been reported at Edgware Road, King's Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate.

Edit: New york and washingtion are stepping up there security, just in case they are hit again.

Goddammit. More purportedly islamic terrorists. Why? Why must they do this to MY religion? Jeeze, and I get enough discrimination in school already.

As for London, why the censored.gif did they bomb it? England seems to be a helluva lot more culturally tolerant than America.

They bombed England to get the attention somewhere else. It is diversionary tactics, that's all. Now, somewhere else in the near future, is going to get hit with a terrorist attack. They may strike Iraq next, with biological weapons or something to completely wipe out the military forces in there. Then if that happens, there will be draft, and all the old people such as my self, will be drafted.

Thats nothing compared to 9/11 or even the school hostage situation in russia. But yea, I'm pretty sure Great Britain knows why we even went into this War on Terrorism.

The School hostage situation in Russia was performed by a different type of terrorists, i think they were czechen rebels.

The UN is saying that Poland is next, since its the 4th strongest country involved in the Iraq war.

Wow, Silent(U) was saying something about a bombing in London, but I figured he was joking around, I turned on the TV and they're talking about it, and I come on SEN and it's being talked about. Hope you and your family is alright Tazzy.

kellimus do you even know the power of the bombs? It wouldn't "completely" destroy all our forces there. Possibly all the forces in one city. Unless there are at least 20 WOMD's going off, we will have a force there. Also all the US forces have gas masks and such training. I believe britain's forces do too, but I'm not sure.

P.S. I also believe the desert would stop the fallout from spreading.

I know the power of a bomb, but Biological Weapons aren't necesarely bombs (some are)

And they may have gas masks and such, but that doesn't mean there are even new types of chemicals that can get through masks and such (Biological Weapons get more and more complex every day)

The desert doesn't stop shit. Back in the 50's & 60's when they tested Atom bombs in the Nevada desert, the wind would carry the radiation for miles and miles.

What about the G8 conference, or the olympics? Granted, I don't think they could orginize something like this in the what, eighteen hours since Britain won the bid for it, but I'm pretty sure it had more to do with G8 than it did with diversionary tactics.

Terrorism is going way too far. I turned on the TV and checked the news and heard about the attacks. This is an incredibly sad moment for many people. I also heard New York is drastically changing its security on subways. On the news, I saw several S.W.A.T. members checking inside the train, and the US terrorism level has increased to high. Hopefully the casualty numbers don't increase more than they already have. Oh and I wish for the best for your dad, Tazzy.

...They could've organized it earlier, they prolly had everything ready and just waited for the final moment to do it.

I heard that it was for G8, because Al Qeada(sp?) wanted to have Britain's troops leave Iraq, so they go out and do something like this to intimidate them. Also, they could have known about G8 for I believe a year.

Also, glad to hear Tazzy's father is ok.

38 dead, 700 injured

Crazy Islamic terrorist group maybe.

They wanted to terrorize Britian and scare them out of Iraq. (Just like Spain)

Ya, maybe people will start helping America and Britian more now that they have witnessed terror in their own backyards, even though the strike is TINY compared to what hit America.

An islamic group called Al Qida (dunno how to spell it) HAS taken responsibility. They said that London got what it deserved for something religous, I have no idea, check the news, its all over cnn.

Which of course means it'll be on the news for at least a week.

Seems stupid to try 'n scare away people from Iraq...
