Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> London Terrorist Attacks
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kame on 2005-07-07 at 16:45:13
EDIT BY YOSHI: This topic was split. Orginal post:
QUOTE
As you may have all heard, there was 4 separate attacks in london. It was said that "it is hard to say how many people are wounded or dead", but I'm reading about 33 dead, 150 seriously injured, and many more walking wounded.

A forum regular, long time very good friend of mine, and the second member ever registered on this site - Tazzy - had a close call, and had been at the location of one of the attacks 5 minutes prior to the explosion.

On behalf of Staredit Network, our sympathy goes out to all the families and individuals involved in this senseless act of violence.

Now onto Firekame's response....

I hope they censored.gif ing pay for this bullshit.

They're already investigating to see if the Al-Qaeda is behind it. 50 minerals says they are.

Apparently Al Qaeda already took the blame for it.

Yeah all of this terrorism is really quite annoying! I don't even know why terrorists like to do stuff like that. I heard earlier on the news today that over 300 wounded now Yoshi. sad.gif And Tazzy I don't even know you, but I am glad that you did not get killed or wounded. Plus none of those people who were wounded and even killed did not deserve it. Terrorism needs to be wiped off the face of Earth! I wish everyone who was effected by this attack of terrorism and others before this all of the luck that they are going to need, to heal what has been hurt or broken. But a lost family member or friend can never be healed. sad.gif

Everyone remember that this is just extremists, and doesn't relate to a religion as a whole. My sister and close friends work in London, all are safe, but this was less about British Citizens and more about the G8 and their general beliefs on the Western Nations.

I don't consider this or 9/11 terrorism... I consider it self-defense.

My news source says that "At least 37 [are] dead, [and] 700 [are] injured".

CBC - Canadian News Source

These attacks were probably for attention, not just for killing people. If they wanted attention, they got it . . .

The whole point of terrorism is to cause terror.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Vampire on 2005-07-07 at 19:36:18
Why? To piss people off and make the government reconsider what they're doing.
Who gets hurt? Mostly innocent civilians.
Is it right? Most Certainly NOT.
Is it working? You bet, thats why so many countries already took their troops out of Iraq AND if it didn't work, they would stop doing it, I mean, they have to die themselves in order to make it happen so they wouldn't sacrefice people, money and innocent lives for nothing.

Sad, but true.

That point may be a bit controversial.
QUOTE(http://www.ict.org.il/articles/define.htm)
The statement, “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter,” has become not only a cliché, but also one of the most difficult obstacles in coping with terrorism. The matter of definition and conceptualization is usually a purely theoretical issue—a mechanism for scholars to work out the appropriate set of parameters for the research they intend to undertake. However, when dealing with terrorism and guerrilla warfare, implications of defining our terms tend to transcend the boundaries of theoretical discussions. In the struggle against terrorism, the problem of definition is a crucial element in the attempt to coordinate international collaboration, based on the currently accepted rules of traditional warefare.

I'm definitely buying a copy of the times tomorrow...

Wow, just when you thought that Al-Qaeda was calming down, their schedule occupied by suicide bombings in Iraq, they strike again.

It seems like they're strategy is to strike in a different country every time, making it so the country they strike next is less prepared.

NYC, Washington DC attempt, Madrid, London, it seems like they are striking all of the G8 capitals (including the biggest attack on the world's capital).

This leaves France (Paris), Italy (Rome), Germany (Berlin), Canada (Ottawa maybe), Russia (Moscow), and finally Japan (Tokyo).
If they manage to hit Tokyo fear.gif all the tall buildings and such...

Look, terrorism is a coward's way of winning, dont you tell me it's neccasary. Its for the ones who arent man enough to go to war. Its not right.
But it works.

What's with terrorism nowadays? By the way, if u see a muslim, just keep in mind that he's a terrorist piece of &%^#. I know a lot of muslims, not once have they said terrorism is bad. They acctually support al qaeda by saying, "Bin Laden does this stuff for his people." WTF???

-Scheisse out.

Ermm... What? I am confused.

Maybe you said it correctly, I just don't know. I am very exhausted right now.

And Tazzy, I'm glad you're ok. And I am yet another person who has never really talked to you, but, it's a good thing you're ok.

Hey you piece of racist garbage. Please refrain from making half-assed comments like that for all of us here, thanks.

I just re-read his post. And wow...

Are you saying that ALL muslims are that way? If so, you are an ignorant person. Obe of my relatives is a muslim. I have NEVER EVER, seen hostility from him. Besides, when the suicide bombers kill themselves, it's not for the fact that they want to die. It is because in their beliefs that if they kill themselves iin the name of [forgot their god(s) name] that they will promised "X" amount of virgins and will get into heavan automatically.

If they attack Canada, it'll be Toronto, not Ottawa, lots more people in Toronto. It sucks that in order to make a statement you have to get at someones throat but that seems to be the way things are. When life kicks you in the nuts the only thing you can do is keep going and try to learn from it. EDIT: I only saw page one.

My respects to people who have lost their lives in this war.

Self-Defence iso? If someone is trying to kill you, you defend against them, not attack their family, thats called revenge
