Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> How to stack sunkens in sunken d maps
Report, edit, etc...Posted by sam1 on 2005-07-07 at 18:25:53
Since the 1.11 patch, blizzard disabled building stacking. I've returned to map making now, and all the sunken d maps i made/downloaded, the stacking doesnt work any more. However, in turret defense maps, the stacking works. This is ambivalent with the patches after 1.11. I don't know whether it works with photon d or not, since I have no photon d maps.
Are there anyways to make stacking work again in patches later than 1.11? I'm kinda impatient I need to solve this issue ASAP.

It should still work if you just turn off lights.

Just disable vision for yourself.

i don't think it works for some zerg buildings because the drone has to actually stand on the spot where it wants to build, i tried to stack in sunken d before but the drone wasn't able to go on top of the sunken colony so it wasn't able to do anything.

Stack buildings on top of each other. Then kill one building. Then a building can be created by triggers (works for all races) or built normally (only really works with SCV and probe) at the spot of the stacked building.

Interesting. I'm guessing that's because the programmers assumed that buildings couldn't be stacked, so that if you remove a building from a location it "clears" that area so you can build there again.

Yep, I know the triggers for stacking. I guess stacking just doesn't work for drones.

What you do is you create some Creep Colony (for the creep). Then you stack a couple of Pylons. Now to build on those Pylons, you will need to remove 1 Pylon every time.

I don't quite understand what that tutorial says there.

I tried with this trigger:
Trigger
Conditions:
¤ Current player brings at least 1 Protoss Pylon to 'Anywhere'.
Actions:
¤ Center location labeled 'Location' on Pylon owned by Current player at 'Anywhere'
¤ Remove 1 Pylon for Current player at 'Location'
¤ Create 1 Sunken at 'Location' for Current player
¤ Preserve trigger

It kinda works, but you have to stack all sunkens at once. Otherwise if you turned lights on, and want to stack again, it won't work, because pylons cannot be built on creep.

Edit:, I think, I kinda got the idea. Is the trigger I tried relevant to what that tutorial says?

You don't need lights off to stack Zerg buildings. You just need a bunch of stacked buildings on top of creep.

Also,an easier way to stack, ( though not on top of each other, a little to the side) u can just do it regular. It will stack with lights off, but it wont work exactly on top of each other.

I's still confused here. Can somebody tell me how to make the trigger? Also, what I meant by stacking is not stacking exactly on top of each other, I meant stack in the "holes" between Sunkens that Zerglings will pass through.

Yah, i think u can stack in the holes, as i said. if a drone could fit there (which i think it will) and if the lights are turned off, why not? sorry if it doesnt help, but i dont see why it shouldnt allow stacking like that
