Please move if this belongs in the Terrain Forum

Alright, for what I need to do in my map, which, if possible, I'd like to keep confidential as of yet, but is there any buildable terrain that won't generate Creep.

OR

If not, is there a way to make it so the Creep only spread in the square it is built it?

No, there's only 3 ways I can think of.
  • Surround the building with one ring of unwalkable terraain. Creep won't generate over that.
  • Surrond the creep area around the building with unbuildable terrain.
  • Constantly kill/create the building so the creep doesn't get a chance to spread.

Or, just don't use a Zerg building.

this probably wont help since you're looking for general terrain where u'd be able to build anywhere so ur not sure where exactly the structures would be, but if u do know ahead of time, try surrounding that creeping building with a higher elevation terran (use isometric to make it smooth, units would be able to go thru it, but i'm not sure if creep would follow...)

As dumb as this sounds the Creep terrain is buildable but creep won't spread on it.

(zerg players can't build on creep terrain, they need actual creep)

creep is buildable....?

Yes by Zerg... Creep Terrain (the ones that you see in SF and SCMD2) are not by Zerg Players.

I thought creep terrain wasn't buildable. I tried placing a barracks on creep with an scv. The highlights of the barracks showed green but when the scv got there it said "cannot bulid here".

i think thats actual zerg creep, as opposed to the sf creep terrain... apparently theres creep terrain that acts like normal buildable terrain with the exception it doesnt allow real creep to spread on it... i dunno, seems far fetched, if it acts as standard buildable terrain real creep should be able to spread on it (even if not visibly noticeable...)... someone should test this... whistling1.gif

Nope, i did this with terrain creep. I clicked the creep on SF, clicked the map, saved, then i tried building, and that happened biggrin.gif

Yes, that's what I remeber too.

Maybe i should recheck the map i did.

Edit: Couldn't find the old map but did another test.

Using creep terrain buildings will show up in green when ready to place them. But as soon as you try to build them it will indicate that it is unbuildable.
Zerg buildings are not buildable except the hatchary. Once a hatchary is placed creep will partly spread ontop of the terrain creep but will not extend its full distance.

I knew i remembered something weird, maybe that was it. Sorry i was wrong, (or maybe they patched it lol)

Thanks (U)Bolt_Head, it may not have worked the way it was completely meant to in your tests, but I found a way to make it work, thanks again.
