The ally script junkyard dog trigger is spoce to make the units roam however...the units love to go to one area.....if you have a solution too this problem and its not location consuming (and nor patroling) please tell me

you could have 4 different locations in the spot where you want to have junkyard dawg roam. Just set them with the ai script an preserve biggrin.gif

Yeah just have Junkyard dog on preserve trigger, that should always keep them moving and roaming around.

I never understood why units do that. When you make them roam around they have a certain location on a map that they "prefer" (I guess i could say). Observers naturally roam, and they also do this when owned by a computer, and group together.

It's probabally all in your head... Junkyard dog should be random.

DT..... Ugh, I don't even want to take the time to come up with a reply to your post... I'll only take the time to make a post saying that I won't take the time to make a reply wink.gif

Yeah Death. I've seen junkyard dog make them all move in a certain direction. I don't know why, but it just seems to. This matter should be investigated more thoroughly.

NOT random.. sadly.. in my map they all go to one place.. and its 2 times.. i made it in a town they all go toward enterence, i made trigger to make thego back, but they still somehow get through.. maybe X-tra is buggy...

This is not the editor's fault... It's a fault in the AI script. I highly doubt they do that every time. Try doing Junk Yard Dog after so many seconds to see if you can get variation.

How about using hypers...

I believe that Junkyard dog works best when you give them ALL of the map to roam. Naturally if you confine them to a small area in one place on the map then they are going to clump up in the sides. They don't just try to roam randomly WITHIN the location do they? They just start trying to roam all over the map, but only the units that were in the location right?

Actually, the last time I checked, they all started to migrate in one direction immediately. Could be using a location though. It's late and I think I should go to bed.

1) No they don't, they try to go all over the map.
2) Yes, only the units that you ran the AI script in.

Say I had a fairly large town, with a single entrance in the "wall" surrounding that town. I ran Junkyard Dog in that town, and they all immediately head for the entrance. Perhaps it works in some manner so that each unit in that location is assigned a completely random location on the map, and by sheer probability they are all given a location outside of that location? I'll go test this and come right back.

Yes, it seems that my suspicions were correct. However, what was weird that it did not work under Player 1, only under All Players (units were originally under player 1). Then I tried Player 2 units, and then when that did not work the triggers went under All Players. That did the trick.
