alright... any help would be appreciated.
3/4 of all the starcraft map files that i download, as it says, "make sure it is a valid SC file."
i don't know what to do... i open it with starcraft editor and it just screws up...
i don't know whethere it has anything to do with the dl or not... but i'm telling it to save to disk, then i'm just trying to open it with starcraft editor. if i try to open it in the game it gives me an error.
please help!

People protect their maps so others cannot open their maps and modify them. You get messages such as that from the protection.

ya. it could be either a corrupted file, or what Deamon said: someone protected their map.

About the part with you trying to open it in the game. Do you mean when you try to play it on Starcraft? It should work pefectly fine if you try to open it on Starcraft, you just can't in the editors.

Try changing the filename, maybe it's too long. I think I got a message like that with Yoshi's old matrix demo.

He said 3/4. I bet you 10 minerals that those people just protected their maps. I mean, few people don't anymore. This means, bud, that you can't open them (unless you unprotect them, which is going to be hard with ProEdit and the ever-awesome Uberation out now.

u have a wide variety of choice heh, theres prolly a tutorial somewhere out there, but i'll give u the gist of it
GUEdit - old, and can be unlocked fairly easily, dont use...
ProEdit - probably the medium, i hear it can be unlocked...
if u use StarForge u can automatically lock maps while using Save As by setting it to Final Release
and Uber@tion is probably the most secure and newest one out, and probably what you want to use, although i've personally had it screw up briefings on protection and have seen it do the same to others, so its not perfect in that sense, but noone will be unlocking it anytime soon... u can find them all in the download database on this site...
