How can I make map with waw music and it would be less than 5MB? I converted mp3 to waw using audacity to worst quality and less space but anyway my map is 12MB! How to reduce map size?

Did you try to compress it via Sound Recorder?

What ever. It won't help a lot because whole song takes 20MB and 10MG in the game! You say I have to use 1/3 of the song? Nah it won't happen!

If you are not satisfied with the .wav quality, you can use the MP3 - OSF importer. It will convert the file and place it into your patch_rt.mpq. It will also give you the string you need to use to access this file.

When you distribute your map, make the music a separate download in .mp3, and give instructions for the users to import the file in a similar manner. Those who will comply will be able to hear the music. Those who don't will not hear the music.

Well, then you are out of luck tongue.gif

There really isn't any other way. The less the size needs to be, the worse the quality will become.

If you are so in need of the music, OSF is worth the added effort. If not, just ditch the music and focus on other, much more important aspects of a map.

Quick Fix: Don't use the wav tongue.gif

Sounds are usually unimportant in maps. They only add a mood into the map. Having no sound won't affect the gameplay, or entertainment level, unless the player is obsessed with loud beeping sounds.

Well, what you CAN do, is get something like ACID, or ask me to make something in ACID, that sounds good when it repeats so you can have a short sound clip of ok quality that sounds good when it repeats so it has a feel to it where it's a full song. You can also make a music off function of people don't like it.

As I said I just wanted to know. And sound affects entertainment level, Imagine playing without any sound at all!
